Ripped in 30 questions from a newbie

I've done the 30 Day Shred and loved it, but I'm burnt out on that and want to start something new. I have little self-discipline, so these types of videos work well for me. I ordered Ripped in 30 and plan on starting next week. My main question is, how important is the meal plan? I would like to lose about 10 lbs. and I already stick to a 1200-1300 calorie diet. I'm a creature of habit, so I would rather not have to change my diet to eat based on Jillian's recipes. For those of you who have done it, are the results significantly better if you stick to the meal plan? Or is a balanced diet of any kind sufficient?

I'm doing RI30 right now, and I don't even know what the meal plan looks like (I didn't do the meal plan for 30DS either and lost 6 lbs and I'm not losing anymore so doing the meal plan at this point would be counter-intuitive maybe) so take this with a grain of salt. I don't think that it would be any better than what your already doing. You could look at it to see if you like it though.

Makes sense. I didn't do the 30DS meal plan and saw good results so I don't suppose I need to make major changes. I've looked through the RI30 meal plan a bit and gotten some good ideas, but it sounds like I would need a lot more time to dedicate to food prep and that's not going to happen!
