Hello everyone I know I ask alot of question lol
I have a bowflex and my 11(soon to be 12) year old is wanting to workout on it, he is built right he is 5'2 and long torso wide shoulders so if he worked out he would look really good (takes after his daddy)
but anyways how much should he lift and is it ok
just enough to get a little toned and set a good example of staying in shape and a healthier lifestyle, i think he weighs like 120

Help him focus on form and teach him that it's more important to move the weight correctly than it is to move a lot of it.
Weight lifting is fine for a young man, and can help a lot in sports, health, is soon to be growth spurt, and confidence.
Help him find a way to just make it fun, don't really focus on bench marks and goals at this time though.0 -

agreed.
Make sure he's doing the excercises properly, and keep the weights reasonable. He doesn't need to be taking maxes or going heavy.
He should be learning how to squat properly without weight, do proper pushups, do pullups, etc.0 -

hit the weights hard. When I first started my goal was to lose weight and I dropped about 15 pounds while lifting "heavy".
so don't hold back on your weight training.0 -
For junior high football we started lifting in the summer between 6th and 7th grade at my school.
Workout was weeks of 3x12, 3x10, 3x8 and 3x5 (and then repeat back at 12) of Squats, Bench Press, Lat Pulldown, Hang Cleans, and Shoulder Press. We could do extra, but that was all we did under direct supervision of the coaches as a team. We did this Mon, Wed, Fri.0
