The Age-Old Nerd Question

As Disney now owns the rights to the Star Wars franchise, I'd like to discuss something that was joked about in another topic: a Star Wars-Marvel crossover.

With this in mind, the age old nerd question is:

Would a light saber, capable of cutting through anything, cut through the indestructible adamantium?

I'm a huge Star Wars nerd but newer on the Marvel front and that is a question I have never seriously pondered before....

I would have to say that yes, it could but only because Star Wars exists in a galaxy far far away and there's no way to know if the limits of our world exist in theirs and vice versa. However, Thor's hammer which is capabale of destroying anything, could not go through the shield sooooo....

Since light sabers can't cut through each other... does that mean the light sabers are made of vaporized elemental adamantium?

    I'm going with that theory.

So no, it couldn't cut through it-

Well, maybe, but Star Wars happened a long time ago. If you want to catch up on what's happening in space nowadays [via Marvel], look into the Shi'Ar, Kree, Skrull, Nova Corps, the events on Breakworld, the Blue Area of the Moon, etc.

I think it would cut thru it...but not destroy it. I think wolverines claws would grow back but I totally think a light saber could cut them off. Like clipping his finger nails.

But I don't know if it could stab thru it??? IDK so confusing.

AND I totally missed the disney owns the SW franchise.

I believe the term you are looking for is "fan-boy/girl" not "nerd." Carry on.
  • No. Or as someone pointed out, the vibranium shield. I may be biased as well.

Remember also it was A Long Time Ago.... there HAS to be updates to the lightsaber technology. C'mon, they must have Lightsaber 4s with bluetooth and wifi by now......

Actually Geek is OK too. Geek is considered PC, while nerd is an insult.

What do I know, I am just a nerd.

Let's think about this for a second.

    - Light Sabers are basically super heated light sources capable of cutting anything in their path.

-Adamatium is a metal that must be forged. I'm assuming it's forged through heat, making it venerable to a light saber.

    Nerd out.

This issue has already been resolved in Bioware's Knight of the Old Republic game, published by LucasArts (and therefore likely canon), Cortosis-weave weapons are able to withstand lightsaber blows.

Phrik, Mandalorian Iron, and other items are also lightsaber resistant.

Presuming adamantium is similar (or stronger), then no, a lightsaber cannot cut through adamantium.

I think the real question is, why couldn't this happen before Indiana Jones and the kingdom of the crystal skulls. Maybe Disney could have stopped it.

Ok, Howard the duck crossover... it practically writes itself.

When was it established that a light saber would cut through anything?

    I'm going with this ....

If Cyclops' optic blasts cannot destroy Wolverine's claws, then no, a lightsaber would not cut through them.
  • NO! Besides, regenerative health.

Everybody knows that Cyclops' optic blasts are a concussive force, not a piercing laser.
