How do you find "it" ? I am really struggling here to get a good start.
I have joined the Y and I have even signed up for a Fit4Life class that they offer. But, I have to actually GO to the Y to benefit.
Some days are good, and some are not. I have not been, but twice in the past 2 weeks. I have been very down in the dumps lately.

I have been asked this before, and my only answer is its 90% mental. This whole weight loss thing. And for the first time in my life, I wanted to be healthy, I wanted to take back from life, and start living it, not watching it go by me. It has been absolute sheer determination , what I have done. I have will power because what I want, is so much more than that piece of cake sitting downstairs. you have to want it, more than ANYTHING ELSE. You have to want it. Every single day, every time you eat, you have to want to make the right choices, so you can reach your goal, more than anything. it has to come from within you....

    Best of luck!

You may want to start out at your doctor's office. You mentioned feeling really down in the dumps lately. It may be more than just feeling down. If you are clinically depressed, getting that treated may help you feel better and help you get the motivation you need. If that isn't the case, then just start forcing yourself to do it. I know when I started I wasn't real thrilled at the prospect of working out, but once I forced myself to and I started seeing results, that is what gave me the motivation to continue. Now I would say that I am almost addicted to it. Another thing is try to find someone to do it with you and make it a little bit of a competition. I have a friend at work that is doing this too and we are always trying to do more than the other one. That little bit of competition pushes both of us to do more than what we probably normally would on our own. Good Luck!!!

I started by logging my food. That's it. I wasn't even trying to lose weight at the time, just trying to take inventory. But by logging my food, I found I was eating less and I started losing weight.

Then, I started examining my logs and looking for stuff to improve. I picked one thing at a time and worked on it. I lost 32 pounds doing that. I started with drinking more water, then eating less sugar, then more protein, etc. etc.

A simple medical checkup got me into this seriously! My BP is high, my percentage of body fat is 60+ .... the doc scared me, she said I most probably have a fatty liver, etc.

I needed that kick in the butt, now I am so serious about this, and really want to get healthy ...
