When muscles heal from a heavy workout, they retain water. It's likely water weight you are seeing on the scale. It's next to impossible to gain much muscle in a short amount of time (impossible if eating at a deficit), especially if female.

You gained weight because you were gaining muscle! Somestimes to scale isn't all you need to look at. If you look better in the mirror and your clothes are loose then it's doing what it should. Muscle weights something like three times as much as fat, so gaining a little is a good thing! Gaining that muscle means you are burning MORE calories during the day and over time you will start to lose. Focus on your HEALTH not your WEIGHT!

I posted a status about this just this today!!
    I said...

I'm not going to worry too much about numbers on a scale. There's a difference between 'losing weight' and 'losing fat'. If I can reduce my body fat and gain more muscle by working out 6 days a week and eating well the majority of the time.. my body will be more toned and will be slimmer, despite what the scales might say.. Thoughts?

My friends all agreed! They have lost inches and have noticed changes in clothes, but the scales aren't necessarily budging!

Sooo, there you go :) I'm only just getting used to this concept too!

But I have definitely noticed that I am gaining more muscle from working out, and yes muscle weighs more than fat! So although I'm losing fat and becoming more toned, I may not actually 'lose weight' on the scales.

I to was seeing a gains on the scale and I was working even harder then before. I found my inches had changed dramatically! Even in one week...I had a gain of 0.3lbs and in that week. I lost 1/2 inch off my bicep, an inch off my bust and 1/2 inch off my waist. Amazing how the body transforms itself. I had someone tell me...Id love to be my current weight but the inches I want..so really the number on the scale is crap!

Thanx. I'll be keep doing it this time. Just you know, seeing your weight went up is annoying.

It is *NOT* annoying to me because I understand about water retention. I know that after a tough workout, my muscles require water to repair themselves. This recovery process is what makes muscles bigger and stronger than they were before. And what's the point of exercise if you aren't trying to improve yourself?

Personally, I love that 24-48 hour period when my weight goes up a pound or two after intense exercise. It is one step in the process of achieving my fitness goals.

That hip hop abs is really just soft porn and I'm not sure if it benefits anyone.

Soft porn can be beneficial in the right setting.
