why has weight loss stopped?

I started doing myfitness July 2011 and by July 2012 have lost close to 50 lbs but since then I have stopped losing. I have been reading about BMR and TDEE and wonder if 1200 cal is too low - different "calculators" give different numbers. I do struggle with hunger often. I dont exercise routinely and know that would be helpful. Its maddening at times,I dont want to stop trying ... just wish I understood it all better.

Your calories depend on your age, weight, height and level of activity. As we age our calorie allotment goes down naturally more than that I can't say without knowing the rest.
  • can you post your diet?

How close are you to your goal? I pretty much stopped losing about 15 lbs from mine. I am going to stick with the deficit anyway, just taking it slooow. It'll happen by next year. Maybe.

Have you started taking any new medications? I was doing fine until I added an allergy pill to my daily medications. All of a sudden I went from 1-1.5lbs a week to barely 1lb a month. I am testing things by taking the allergy pill out for as long as I can to see if my weight loss picks up again. I have lost 30lbs in 10 months, and I have about 50lbs left to go. I exercise 60-90 minutes 4x a week

My high weight was230 so first goal was 175 (weight when I got married) but I would like to get to 150 and see how that feels/looks -- I am short so that might still be too much.

I do light exercise due to health issues, but I like walking to Leslie Sansone's walk it off Dvd's. Walking off the pounds. I also do yoga. Those of us who are 5'1 only need 1200 calories. We need to make sure we eat low cal foods. Not always easy, but can be done. My Dr. told me to eat apples because they are filling and low in calories.

Wow, great weight loss. No new meds- I do take an anti-inflammatory but I was doing that before starting myfitness. I will keep working at it and remember that I do feel so much better than before and slow loss is better than gaining back!

Go to 'my home' then 'settings' then 'diary settings' then 'make diary public'.

Well you don't have too many days on there, so it's hard to see a pattern. I notice that your protein has been pretty low most days and also, quick added calories can be dangerous. Just take the extra minute and look up or enter what you're actually eating. That way, you'll know for SURE how many calories/carbs/fat/protein is in it. Guessing isn't going to work long term.

    1200 is very low. I'm 55, 5'2" and eat a minimum of 1350 to maintain 117 lbs.
