So, i posted that about the 150 cal per pint ice cream, from Arctic Zero. And there seems to be some intense discrepancy, as to wether or not it is in fact 150 cals a pint, or more over even being able to call it ice cream.
I made a giant milkshake out of the chocolate pint, with almond milk, recorded it as 290 cals, and wasquite happy with it in every possible way, but to each their own.
Ever since, i have been on a quest to make my own ice cream.
What i did was so simple it was ridiculous.
1 cup frozen pineapple,
1 cup frozen mango,
1 cup frozen kale because i squeeze that kale in anywhere i can manage. Ice cream/sorbet is no excuse.
1/4 cup almond milk
Water, in a food processor.
185 cals per quart...
My food processor is a quart...
Anyway this is my ice cream.
This is what i got.

Sounds very healthy! Did it go rock hard in the freezer or not? I threw some yogurt in the freezer and I can't get my spoon into it.0

Nope. I split it with my fiancee It never made it so far as the freezer. lol :drinker:0 -
I was with you until kale. No thanks!0

Why do you squeeze kale in at every opportunity? I'm just curious.
The ice cream sounds great. I bought a Yonana machine but haven't used it yet. Frozen bananas turned into ice cream. Anything frozen and creamy that resembles ice cream works for me! lol0 -
I'm not so sure about this...0

Sounds awesome! I try to put kale or spinach in all my smoothies too, it's pretty much tasteless when added with other things and just makes it all the more healthy!
Thanks for the recipe, I'll have to try it out whenever I crave ice cream!0 -
You could also try some slow churned ice cream, which really & truly IS real ice cream! Most of them are 100-120 cal. per serving. - Edy's, Kroger's, Breyers, etc. - and delicious.0

I put kale in everything i can because it is so amazingly good for you...
This recipe obviously can be altered to NOT have kale in it.
And for me, a big part of my lifestyle change was to be able to eat a lot of a thing, and knowing that, to create foods that allowed this.... .
i have been eternally weak to one serving forever, as have most of us, else we woundnt even be here.... and while im working on it, im not there yet. SO this entire QUART, was 150 calories, and we ate the entire thing. :drinker:
I know, you could have one serving of most regular ice creams(1/2 cup) for the same calories. but you can have ten times more of this, than the other.
I have come to understand that here on MFP there are some people who simply refuse to consider anything not made with heavy cream and tons of sugar to be ice cream... im so sorry to have offended your delicate sensitivities....
but if you are someone who will accept something frozen, and sweet, and NOT using milks of any kind... im your guy.
:drinker: and perhaps this is a good start to finding some kind of 'ice cream' substitute.0
