Slowly reducing the foods that are causing you to overeat. Or just cutting them out for a bit until you get a grip on eating your recommended number of calories--then adding them back (in moderation).0

make yourself log everything BEFORE you eat it
then drink a full glass of water and look at your food diary
seeing in black and white the numbers for what you are doing can slow down and stop the over eating0 -
Thanks for replying will take one day at a time and track what I eat and see how i go x0

If you take what I'm about to say as callous, I'm sorry, but I just don't "get it". I don't understand the "I can't stop eating" thing. To me it sounds like just a built in excuse when you make poor choices so you can make yourself feel better and have no responsibility afterwards. If you can't stop eating, then you will always fail. Eventually you have to stop. Stop making bad choices. Stop beating yourself up when you slip up. Stop pretending it is something out of your control that is causing you to not stay on track. My tip is, Just Stop Eating Uncontrollably, eat at deficit and fit in exercise.0 -
Your right. Should stop myself from doing it but finding it hard, tomorrow is a new day and week, our kids are back to school after a week half term so back to routine and time to focus on me!!!0

When I need to push myself, I weigh myself every morning. I know you aren't supposed to, but for me it's a reminder to stay on my goal. I drink more water, because it satiates and I eat less. It also flushes out excess sodium so I retain less water overall. I eat more protein. Protein also uses more water to digest. It's the least preferred food source for your body to break down for glycogen, which is your energy supply. Don't eat a meal without some form of protein or fiber. You will feel full longer and snack less. I understand what it's like to have cravings so strong you can't help but grab some chips. Instead, I grab a protein shake now, or eat an apple. It's just about smart substitutions and being conscious of the decisions you are making. Oh, drink more water!0

I like all of the ideas so far. Also, when you are looking at the food, ask if it is nourshing. If it is nutritious and good for your body, or if it is crap and poison that your body does not want.
This mental game helps me a lot. Sometimes, I will crave something sweet, and after asking myself if the thing I am about to eat is a good helthful nutritious snack, the answer is no, and I wind up eating an apple or pear instead...or both, since they don't have that many cals and taste yummy. Or, sometimes, I'll opt to make myself a nice healthy nutritious smoothies using whole fresh fruits, and a little non fat milk. That definitely satisfies me when I feel snacky. So filling, but healthy.0 -
Get rid of the foods you're binging on. They're like drugs.0
