It's harder with my trainer...

Hello,

I don't know if it's the weather (fall is always hard on my motivation) or my new official training program with my trainer, but I'm having a really hard time working out since about 2 weeks. I have a new program that implies that I go walking/running every two days, while doing muscle exercices the other day. (before that I just did DVDs, walked, or did whatever I felt like doing)

I'm bored with the muscle exercises, and I can't seem to find time, motivation or energy for the run these days. Even right now, I could go, since I do not have anything urgent to do, but I'm not motivated at all...

I usually run in the morning, before work. I had a lot of different reasons why this week I did not have time (blood test appointment, early meetings, etc.). But I hate running at night, my neighborhood is creepy (and full of dogs). So those days, I didn't work out and felt like crap for not doing anything.

I'm looking for a solution to that problem... do you have any suggestion? I've been trying to find a treadmill or an elliptical machine to do it from home, since it would be easier, but I did not find any yet.

thanks!

Clearly this trainer is not working for you! Get another one. A good trainer will motivate you, will come up with a variety of excercises so you are not bored, and the main thing he will be there for you, yelling at you if needed, higher, harder, one , two more, keep your back straight, etc
  • You have to find your carrot! Everyone need a carrot. I have a carrot, in that the smaller I get, the bigger my penis gets (by contrast, of course). I have a few things in mind, though. I hate running, yet I am starting to go on the treadmill more than the elliptical.

Do you listen to music? I would pump some music. Download the ZZ Top album "Greatest Hits." Amazon has it for about 7-9 bucks, and has about 30 songs on it. When I work out, that is most of what I listen to. Has a nice beat, and I just feel it to my bones. Do it, girl!

Pohudet, in al fairness I don't see him often. Only about once every 3 weeks. I feel bad when I see him and I did not progress, so sometimes I postpone our appointments...

diligentjosh, that's funny! I do not have that type of carrot though! ;)

I went walking today and tried an audiobook, it was more interesting that way. The only problem left is that I do the same route everyday since the beginning of summer. This can't help me not being bored...

    thanks all!
  • I have to agree with maybe finding another trainer. As a person who has, and is currently, worked with a few trainers it's very important to find one that promotes synergy. I at least see my trainer once to twice a week and even text each other outside of the gym.

I get bored pretty easily so me and my trainer came up with intervals, 5-10 minute sessions of jogging on the elliptical or brisk walk on the treadmill at a target heart rate that is pretty high, with weight training sets in between. The interval training has made a significant improvement in my stamina, and it makes the workouts go by very quick.
