Why does this happen?

So I do high intensity interval training most of the time for 12-15 minutes. It burns a buttload of calories. I also lift weights.

I have never had a problem with injuries or anything doing those activities.

Yet...every time I try a Jillian DVD I end up hurting myself. 30 Day Shred, Ripped in 30, 30 Day Abs, etc....I can do them MAYBE once but on the second time I end up getting hurt. I use proper form etc but end up either really hurting myself or being sore in the bad way, not the good way.

Does this happen to anyone else? Is there a way to fix this problem? The HIIT is MUCH more intense but I haven't had a problem...so why is it happening with Jillian's DVDs?

Hi, I've never done dvds or stuff like that but injuries usually happen from not warming up properly. I would think the dvds have a proper warmup routine before the actual workout. Maybe also try warming up a little and stretching on your own before the workouts.

What are you injuring? Is it the same thing each time?

I'm not sure why it's happening with just her videos. Which video in particular, or is it literally every one? I've done 30DS and I haven't had any problems, but my friend did have a couple injuries due to not warming up properly before hand. The cool down towards the end of Jillians workouts are also very important. Make sure you stretch before and after!

I hope it's nothing too serious, good luck!

Jillian doesn't do a long enough warmup on any of her dvds. I pulled my hamstring on Level 2 of Ripped in 30 - I think she has deadlifts or good mornings in the first round ... I should have known better ... oh well, live and learn.:ohwell:

Different each time. Sometimes knees, sometimes ankles, one time a freakin elbow.

All the ones I have tried! Yep! I can do yoga DVDs without issue. I have done Tae Bo without any trouble. I always do the warm up/cool down (despite not doing those things with HIIT).
