haha! this is so wrong!
Yesterday we ran out of dog food and I couldn't get to the store before it closed. So I had my fiance make some homemade food for the furr kids. He gave them salmon, tilapia, organic carrots, celery, and green beans with brown rice. I don't think I'd had ever been so jealous of my dogs' food before like that as I was last night. They ate better than I did last night.

I always make my own dogs food....lots of chicken, beef, pork, brown rice, barley, carrots, peas all cooked together. One day my mother in law was over and wondered what was for dinner as it smelled so good....nope, didn't feed her dog food, but it was tempting:devil: :bigsmile:0

<laughing> that's tooo funny!!! Spoiled little creatures huh?? I love my pooches, I call my little schnauzer... "a little boy, stuck in a dog's body"...ha ha ha ha0

Yea. It was pretty bad. I woke up this morning and all I could think about was dog food.:blushing:0

my fathers dog is diabetic so he makes her boneless skinless chicken breast, carrots, and green beans for her meal everyday twice a day. i'll buy good chicken for ME and within a week its gone. and he feeds her my soy cheese. its so annoying! lol0

FYI if you want check out the "barf diet" (bones and raw food) for dogs. There seems like a lot of info on it too. We have a friend who does this diet with his dog...and since his dog has dropped all skin allergies, and has a SHinny coat...and no more ear infections, and is not at all bloated and over weight. We are considering to go "barf "diet for our dog, and 15% dog food... just for while on vacation or what ever.0

We looked into the raw food diet. When I told my fiance about it, he flipped. There is no way he will ever feed them raw meat. I've tried multiple times and ways to convince him to try. It just won't happen. However, we do feed them a premium, high-protein dog food (Wellness Core)0

ya, we are just considering it because my dog gets so many ear infections...and we have tried soooo many good dog foods in the last 10 years...it'd be interesting to see. i was reading an article once that said just like the movie "food inc"... dog food the same relation...they are all in it for the $$$. I am just basing it on the friend that we have and what he says. Chicken bones uncooked don't split...it is a natural calcium for the dog, and any dogs on a raw food diet NEVER get bad teeth/gums. He cuts the chicken backs up into pieces so the dog does't carry it away and eat on his bed or somewhere else. He said he also gives veges and fruit, and also sardines as a treat. if your dog does not suffer .for all health issues...I guess it doesn't make sense to switch...but for us ... we need to try something that works!0

It is wrong. Papmpering your pet with human food, just gives them the oppotunity to suffer the same maladies as humans. Pet food is nutritionally balanced for your pet.
Letting them eat off your plate may be cute, but it is shortening their lives, making them fatter and less active.0 -

Actually, my dogs are 11 and 12 and in perfect health. They eat balanced meals. I agree that table scraps and such are not good for dogs. The majority of pet foods is full of crap and chemicals.0 -
I didn't give them table food. Except for the fish, everything else was organic. It was made specifically for them.0

pre-packaged pet food is the same as us eating Hungry Jack (or whatever it is) frozen dinners every night - or raman. Full of fillers and processed garbage as "preservatives" or for color. As long as the food is properly prepared, measured per the specific animal and fed in an appropriate manner - it is FAR healthier - just like it is for us. They don't have canines to gnaw on dry food. Cats and dogs are both carnivores. They need to green for their digestive tract (hair balls) but other than that, a primary diet of fish and meat is actually rather good for them. Just most people don't want to "waste" their money or time feeding animals their own food.
I am not yet so evolved. But one of my cats is - he hunts and gets his natural feline proclivities managed on his own terms. The squealing bunnies is a bit much for me though. :-(0
