What Is Wrong With...

... people sometimes? Seriously!?

Are some women / men just drama queens and never get a clue of how nobody wants their guilt trips and whoa-wuz-me crap? Do some people NEVER grow up?

Case in point:

Friend I had written off with very good reason calls out of the blue tonight - one I haven't spoken to in YEARS.
I didn't pick up as I'd deleted their info from my phone.

Next thing you know I get a text from this person, indicating it was IMPORTANT I call them right back.

Really? We aren't friends anymore because you acted like a self-absorbed a$$knob ONCE already, what POSSIBLY could be so important that I have to bow down to your demands, right?

So I texted back that I was at a friend's house and could not talk, but a "what's up" kind of response just to see what they were getting at...

Next thing you know, this person is getting vicious via text because I wouldn't call them. Seriously? I told them I was busy. What part of that is so hard to comprehend?

Are people SO self-centered anymore that they can't respect that? I'm supposed to drop everything because they contact me out of the blue? I'm supposed to be so happy to hear from them that I'll just skip to my lou and jump at their demands?

They would NOT stop texting, being rude because I wouldn't call, at which point I let her know I was turning my phone off....... and I did. I am sitting here in shock at how unbelievable some folks are....

Sorry, just needed to vent.

Just wondering if anyone can't stand self-centered BS as much as I can't - or if any of you have had a similar experience....

Well, let's see, I let her know my dog was dying (she has the same breed) and she kept being relentless about me calling her when I was busy.... despite the stress I told her I was already under.... so yes, I thought she was a tad rude and selfish....

But thank you for your response in letting me know I was being self-absorbed!!!! Had not considered that!!!

    Sincerely,

What did you just say? Sober up before you post, lol

I don't think you are self absorbed. Just very inconvenienced by a person that expects you to drop everything out of the blue to call them. The thing I would be also worried about is that they are probably going to quickly take you for granted again and not be available for you when you need to vent. It's probably just an impulsive/bored moment in their life so they are riling things up by calling you. Hope it works out whatever you decide to do.

Well, the good thing is now I will just label the phone number "Don't Answer It's ___"

Yeah, I don't have time for drama. Never have, never will. Not too sure why that is such a difficult concept for some...

And it really must have been a huge emergency to call you...someone she hasn't spoken to in ages. None of the people currently involved in her life wanted anything to do with it either. Well played on not answering.

    VERY good point. Thank you.....

Of course the way she conducted herself tonight reminded me of why I booted her out of the picture in the first place....

I'm sorry. no malice here, but it seems like a dramatisation of something that isn't really a big deal. let me write it how it would go in my life:

"hey dude, how was your day?" me "yeh not bad, oh, lol, do you remember so and so, yeh that douch, yeh they like called and textraged at me cause I wouldnt pick up, so I turned my fone off, yeh, I know, lol. hey you wanna grab some food?"

see, its not really that big of a deal, at least with the information you provided.

oh an ex-friend of mine became so because he cheated on his wife and slept with my best friends ex gf, then told me and asked me not to tell anyone.. needless to say he is not longer my friend... then had the tenacity to text me and say he was done being stubborn with me and we should be friends again. I didn't even bother replying... i found out a month or two later he's now befriended 2 of my ex bf's and my best friends ex gf...

I suppose one mans trash is another mans treasure

You give your contact info to people?

To the rare few who have my phone number know that my phone is ALWAYS on silent so in a case like this they know that I can never be a person to get in touch with in case of an emergency. Most people know that in order to get hold of me, they need to leave a message a day or 2 in advance.

    I. Do. NOT. Trust. People.

What if it was really important, like she is dying, pregnant or getting married tomorrow and needed you to call now? lol I'm just saying. I understand being irritated, but I don't think it is that big of a deal. To each their own. If we all were bothered by the same things, no one would have a real best friend if you think about it.

Well, there were more details however I chose not to post private stuff I mentioned to her in one of my responses as I felt it had no place here. Granted, it would probably change your opinion on what transpired but that's ok.

You know, sometimes you can attempt to avoid drama at all costs, and sometimes it lands smack on you anyway. However y'all want to respond, that's cool... I just needed to vent, that's all. I mean, we all know the saying, opinions are like ***holes.... everyone has one.

Don't turn your phone off for that person. Tell that person, "Fine, if you can't respect that I have other things I'm tending to right now, do not contact me again." Then don't respond. If they keep texting, most phones and phone companies have a way to block unwanted calls and texts.

the drama of your day was "I turned my phone off because I didn't want to talk to someone" - people avoid calls all the time without venting into a thread. just sayin

things can make you laugh, or cry, or angry or sad... you can say Meh..... Pfffff..... Whatever. anger isn't usually the best choice.

but yah... I don't know the entire dramatic back story. perhaps its better that way :)

    smile, be happy!

I pretty much did say that to her.... she didn't like it so much and kept going on and on, hence me turning my phone off. I didn't have the energy to cal my cell provider to deal with the blocking, figure I can do it tomorrow, you know?

As for previous posters who don't seem to get it, that's fine. Some day when you're subjected to the textual or other abuse I was you may want to vent too. Hope your "friends" listen... and don't throw more **** in your face than you are already dealing with..... just a thought. Having a lack of compassion just because you're behind a computer screen doesn't make anyone a bigger person....

I'm actually trying to help you get perspective, and see you could deal with it in a different way. but I guess you said it best yourself.
