Injury causes weight gain?

So with the weather being nice and my boyfriend fixing his motorcycle, we have been riding a lot lately. On Friday we hopped on the bike to head to the strip mall right down the street. We pulled up and my boyfriend started to park his bike on a section of the sidewalk made with smooth brick. Suddenly the bike's brakes locked up and my boyfriend lost his balance. BAM! I find myself falling and I rolled away like my boyfriend has told me to do in the past. First time we have had an accident, and we were going 0mph.
I landed on my right side. I was ok, considering I could have had a bike land on me in the process. My hip hurt immediately, but the pain went away after half an hour. On Saturday and and Sunday I had more pain in my thigh and calf on my right side. I was surprised that I had pain there, but my boyfriend said that a motorcycle accident can cause damage in areas you don't think about. I have no bruising, which surprises me, and I have just been making sure to move around so it doesn't get stiff.
Now on to my question. My last lowest weigh-in was 184. I weigh in on a daily basis, so I am use to seeing a 3-5 pound increase in weight. I know that weight can change daily so this doesn't bother me. But since the accident I have been weighing 190+. Saturday and Sunday I weighed 194. Today I was 191. This has me a little worried.
Is the weight gain normal after an injury? I know the injury could have caused some swelling even though there is no bruising. Should I just forgo the weigh-ins for a couple of days? I haven't been taking any medicine for the pain, but maybe I should for the swelling? Any advice would be appreciated.

If the pain you feel is muscular, then I would say yes - the weight gain is from the accident. If your muscles are damaged, they retain water to aid in the repair.0

swelling and inflammation will cause water weight gain. Don't let it get you down. Try taking something like tylenol to help reduce that swelling and inflammation. Give it time and you'll see that scale going down again. Let your body recover and things will get back to normal again. Sorry your so banged up. I miss riding on the back of my dads bike. He used to take me for rides up into the mountains. We had a blast together.0

I would guess that when the body is injured, especially with pain, there is a subliminal attempt to reduce movements, all the thousands of minor movements you normally make throughout the day add up to a lot of calories.0

Thanks for the advice guys. After I posted this question I went for a walk and drank some water. I decided to hop on the scale again, even though I usually avoid weighing more than once a day. It came up 186. Locally I knew it was probably water weight from the accident, but I guess I was worrying for nothing.Sorry your so banged up. I miss riding on the back of my dads bike. Hey, a little bit of sore muscles from falling off a bike at 0mph versus falling off when my boyfriend is going down the highway is a good trade off in my opinion. I hadn't realized how much I missed being on the bike until this weekend. It is a rush.0
