Introduction ~ Monday, November 5, 2012

Hey everyone. I came on here to try and motivate myself a little more to lose weight. I'm 20 years old and am obese by 90lbs. I need help. I have a hard time putting myself to work to work out and have no motivation. I would like to go to a gym and since I have yet to find a gym with no membership fee, I have yet to go. I have no job and no money to go to a gym.

Well, I don't know what else to say so, that 's it I guess...

I understand not having any money. My husband is on social security and I am on disability. I found a gym for $29.00 a month, but I haven't gone in months due to having to move my parents out of their house and into a tiny independent living apartment then having major abdominal surgery to repair multiple hernias. I have motivation problems, too, but I am insisting on going to the gym tomorrow. You can always go to a mall and walk there for exercise or purchase an exercise video to do at home. They don't cost too much. My name is Kimberlee, 49, and I lost all my wt. in 14 months time. You can do this and logging all your food everyday and having a lg. group of friends that are struggling with similar issues really can help and it is free. Feel free to add me for support and encouragement.
  • Hi..welcome to MFP...you are taking the first step to make a change. I just sent you a friend request

I don't go to a gym either - because of cost and its hard to fit in to my schedule. So I just walk and use my old exercise dvds and my stationary bike. So try to walk every day! Good luck and everyone here is really supportive!

  • There are gyms that will allow pay as you go daily fees. YMCA's & YWCA's often have scaled fees based on what you can afford but you have to ask them for it.
Ultimately though, if you are motivated enough, you don't need a gym. A gym makes it easier, but if you don't actually go and use it, it's a waste.
All you need is a pair of comfortable shoes, desire, willingness to change your eating habits, and support from friends.
    We're here for you.
