Insanity Shoes

What shoes do you wear for Insanity? I'm on week 4 and my feet are killing me. I've tried barefoot, FiveFingers, Saucony running shoes and Merrell Pace Gloves. I've also tried all of those on and off an exercise mat. By the end of the first round of the warm up the ball of my foot is painful during certain exercises (butt kicks, high knees, any kind of jacks).
Any suggestions? I really hate having to take breaks during the warm up because it feels like my feet are going to fall off.

I wear an ancient pair of Berghaus trainers for Insanity - they annoy me because the laces seem to come loose of their own accord and they're extremely battered but I'm guessing that they are so worn to the shape of my foot that I find them comfortable.
It might be worth you going to a sports shop (especially if you can find one that specialises in running shoes or suchlike) and see if you can get someone to look at the arch of your foot. I gather that if you have a flat arch it can result in pain and you can get shoes that will help sort that out (though because they help sort your arch out by... well... arching it, that takes some getting used to, too). I'm not a doctor though! Just it may be something to think about.

I went through the exact same thing doing Insanity. I tried all kinds of shoes and asked for help too. I came to the conclusion that it was probably caused by my flooring I was exercising on. I am on a carpeted cement floor so there is not any give when doing all that jumping. I started using 2 yoga mats and that helped a little but over time those small foot muscles did get stronger and the pain did get better. And as for shoes I stuck with my five fingers.0

I use Skechers D'Lites. They have tonnes of cushioning in them. My knees, back, feet and hips dont bother me since I started wearing those. The only kind of runner I will wear now. Hopefully you find something that works for, I know how annoying it is!:drinker:0

I highly recommend cross trainers. Running shoes are bad for Insanity. I used them and it was horrible. Find a good supportive pair of cross trainers, pick a brand and go try them on. Make sure they fit properly and while you're there trying them on, do some suicide drills, power knees, mummy kicks and see how they feel. Yes I've done this when I picked out my Adidas shoes to make sure my feet didn't slide in them and they supported my arches/feet properly before even walking up to the counter to buy them. It's worth the effort of doing it to find out what fits your feet best.0

Hello Zenchild, I'm on day 55 Insanity I highly recommend a good quality Cross Trainer shoes. It's considered as the most versatile athletic shoes meaning you will have a wide variety of usage for it with side to side support cushioning, stability and durability. Drawback is it's not intended for regular runners and it's heavier than typical running shoes. Hope this helps.
