Gave myself a fitness test - how many calories could I burn in an hour?
ANSWER = 903

Elliptical trainer - arms and legs. Straight in, no warm up or cool down.
Maintained c.160bpm for the hour (top of my training range). Bit dizzy at the end so couldn't have pushed any harder. Probably not sensible for someone my age but pushing limits isn't about being sensible!

Calories and pulse measured on my Polar HRM.

Me - age 52, height 5'9", weight 180lbs (12st 12lb). Fairly fit but not a regular user of elliptical trainer. (Spinning bikes were weapon of choice but they were in use.)

Anyone care to take the challenge?

    Street dance, 6 hour session preparing for a show last week. Stopping only for water breaks.

    5,763 calories.

    This is an excellent question. I will use my cardio day at the gym tomorrow morning to answer this. I think I will choose running on the treadmill to test this. I cannot believe I have not done this before.
  • I think the most I've burnt was with Insanity workout. 60 minutes 720 calories.

    I am 39, 5'4 and 135 lbs.

    Thanks Si. You are such an inspirational friend!!!!! :flowerforyou:
  • I burned 2900 calories on a 6 hour hike last month. Most of it was up hill, but the down hill parts were so steep that I was still able to stay in my zone per my hrm. It took the better part of a week before my legs stopped feeling rubbery.

    So you mean 960.5 in 1 hour.
