If you are 5'3" and 106 pounds, you shouldn't be trying to lose weight at all. That is quite perfect, dear.0
-
it should tell you your calorie needs when u sign up to this site??0
-
Use online calculators to determine your BMR and your TDEE and eat somehwere inbetween.0
-
when you sgned up to mfp it should have recommended a calorie goal0
-
depending on how active you are in day-to-day life, anywhere from 1500-2200.0
-
the site recommended 1200 calories but i thought that sounded low. im not trying to lose anymore, only maintain and gain muscle.0
-
Go back to your goals and choose "maintain current weight". I'm betting its going to give you significantly more than 1200 cals/day.
And don't forget that if you are using MFP to calculate your calorie goal you need to add in extra cals on days when you workout.0 -

I'm 5'1" and 103 I do 1200!0

Assuming 20% bodyfat:
Your Calorie Requirements - Katch McArdle Method
Activity Level Calories
Basal Metabolic Rate 1202
Little or no exercise 1443
Light (1-3 days / week) 1653
Moderate (3-5 days / week) 1864
Heavy exercise (6-7 days / week) 2074
Very heavy exercise (twice daily) 2285
Yes, this is kind of confusing, please contact us for an explanation.
It looks like somewhere around 2074-2285 calories depending on what you mean by "very active."0 -

thanks everyone. great link too. ill be sure to adjust my goal to something more realistic.0

I should have left when I got warned that I will get mean comments here. I do not have any of it and you can't tell it over screen, that is SURE. So I'll just leave and you'll knock it off and leave me alone already. Mind your own buisness. I'll just keep far away from here, there are other sites, I guess this one is just full fo hate.0

I DO NOT have eating disorder. IS IT SO HARD TO READ AND UNDERSTAND? It's what children learn IN FIRST GRADE.
Understanding of what you read. Let go of it! I can do what I want and I don't need to be called sick by people hiding behid screen. I am right in the middle of clinical weight range, told by my doctor. NOT UNDERWEIGHT.
Will you be happy if I just get outta here, certainly not a place for me or for anyone who wants to look fit.
And let me decide what's healnthy and happy for me, no one here can tell what's good for me that's for certain.
nobody wants you to leave. we just want you to hear what we are saying without becoming enraged. it sounds to all of us that you MAY have an eating disorder. that's not calling you sick or mentally ill. younger women with eating disorders develop warped views of themselves and their bodies. the only way you can find out if maybe you're developing some of those symptoms is to see a professional and find out what they think. you have to be open to hearing outside viewpoints. we're not judging you.
nobody has said anything hateful to you. the fact that you are getting so angry and defensive is actually a symptom of a disorder. you may not believe that now or even want to hear that, but later when you calm down, perhaps you'll ask the opinion of somebody you know and trust and see if they think you may be underweight.0 -
And that tells me who? Someone behind screen? Someone who doesn't even know me?
I am certainly NOT underweight. Just because I am not fat doesn't mean I am underweight or that I shouldn't be on this forum.
And I am not starving for god's sake, just because you have to eat so much doesn't mean I can't be statisfyed on 600 kcal.
No you seek help, and learn some manners.
says someone that doesn't even have a picture of herself on here........0 -
Well if doctor isn't someone with professional knowlege, then I don't know who is. I've done reasearches and I am not underweight or have ED. I train and I eat healthy I jsut don't eat much or high calory food. It's who I am, I have never eaten much. So I am in healthy range as my doctor said. I don't get the problem you make out of this.0

Yeah at least i have no need to show around how ugly I am.
ok, but almost anyone you talk to on here will be concerned when you tell them you are 5'5" and 105lbs. alot of the women on here have recovered from their own eating disorders when they were younger. you shouldn't get angry at them. in fact, they are simply showing concern for you. it's not malice. it's empathy.0 -
I keep being called fat by people surrounding me. How the hell am I underweight then? I weight less but I look like I weight more, and you can't call me underweight just by numbers, none of us can be set in one table because every body is diffrent.
But no people around me in real life are concerned about my diet, I do actually need to loose and I just don't get why people here need to call me mentally sick and be mean. It's not being concerned by calling me sick.0 -
At 5'5" and 105 if someones calling you fat your response should be a resounding "FOAD".0

No one is concerned about a young girl exercising and eating 600 calories MAX every day? I find that very hard to believe. Please please please please please talk to your doctor. IT sounds like you are going down a deep, dark path toward self destruction.0

Some of the comments are just mean minded - they do it not because they see me fat but because they want me to feel like that. I've been called skinny too, but fat comments are just rough and they hit me hard. Things I want to loose is body fat and re-gain muscle build I already have from years and years of training. Besides I have terribly slow metabolism since I was a kid, i can't do anything about it.
But no need for meanfull comments like 'you're sick go visit a doctor' WinnerVictori said it in much nicer way.
And I've got an offer for model - job. How am I supposed to have fat in that sort of free-time job.0 -

mine was removed... I hope i dont get a warning for suggesting someone I am concerned about see a professional. It's because none of us here are qualified to give her advice, and i think she needs it.
So she probably reported me?
i dont know.0 -
Building muscle seems like a good goal. Have you seen this, yet? http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2011/07/21/meet-staci-your-new-powerlifting-super-hero/0

No unfortunatelly not, I use www.superskinnyme.com it has most fitness and exercise weight loss tips like resistance running program and stuff.
I want to build more lean muscle, not bulk them up.
I will just read her story, looks pretty inspireing and she does have nice body now0 -

based on this, you do not need to lose weight, you need to LOSE ALL THE PEOPLE that are surrounding you telling you you're fat. I don't seriously know if anyone is straight out telling you you're fat or if it's just a warped perception of what you THINK they think, but if anyone tells you that, then immediately cut them out of your life. Done. Problem solved. They are the problem, not your body. You need to gain a couple pounds in the form of muscle and you'll be fine. Right now you are a little underweight, but you are not happy with your body composition, which means you need to GAIN MUSCLE to tip the balance of your body fat percentage lower. Read that article on NerdFitness about Staci that was posted. See how she looks better in her after pic, and weighs MORE?, it is not about what number is on the scale, it is about how you look in the mirror an how your clothes look on you.
If you eat enough to gain a few pounds of muscle (and you have to lift heavy weights to do it), then you can have that kind of result too.
You need to gain at least ten pounds, and most of that should be muscle, but you're going to have to start eating at least double what you are now, and lots of protein.0
