I'm writing this with tears in my eyes, I am sorry that i did not inform you about my trip to London, United Kingdom. I and my family came down here to London, United Kingdom for a short vacation and we were mugged at gun point last night at the park of the hotel where we lodged, all cash, credit cards and cell phones were stolen from us. We have been to the embassy and the police here but they are not helping issues at all, our flight leaves in less than 24hrs from now and we having problems settling the hotel bills.

The hotel manager won't let us leave until we settle the hotel bills, right now we are freaked out, All i need from you now is just a loan to pay for the hotel bills and to get our flight back to the next 24 Hours. I promise to pay the money back to you as soon as we get back home because the hotel manager won't let us leave until i pay for the hotel bills...

I need your help.

WHAT TO DO?

A co-worker had received one of these emails from another co-worker a while ago. Thought it was funny since she had met with him earlier that day!

    reply with this:

"the other day, at a gas station, some guy came up to me with a sob story about forgetting his bank card, and wanted to know if i would help him pay for gas. I turned that *kitten* down, so what do you think?"

About a 6 months ago I got a very similar email except it was from the email address of someone that I knew personally although not really well. It was more of a business contact. I really thought it was legit until I contacted her and found out that her email had been compromised.

This scam has been around a few years. It was all over the news when it started. A friend of mine's Facebook got hacked once and the hacker PM'd all his contacts with this story.

Don't ya just hate it when a friend (presumeably close enough to call in an emergency) just forgets to tell you when they are going to another country for vacay? I like how it says London, United Kingdom a couple times and "I and my family." Sounds so authintic. Oh you poor dears, quick tell us where to wire you the money!

I got one that claimed to be a United States Army Sargent needing my help in filing for money in Afghanistan privately and he would split it with me- or something along those lines...all he needed was my email to send me more information as " he isnt on a secure computer " . I just about twisted that chumps cap back in a reply email...PISSED ME OFF- claiming to be a US serviceman.
