far infared technology -- Does it work?

I'm thinking about buying a Groupon for FIR body wrap. This is what website says:
FIT body wraps serve as an adjunct to weight-loss plans by detoxifying the body with two proprietary elements: the FIT coat and booster spray. Covering four areas of the body—the arms, abdomen, and upper and lower legs—the coat emits far-infrared ray heat that reaches beneath layers of fat tissue. The wrap is designed to soften fat cells into fatty acids, which can then be absorbed into muscles as energy or into the bloodstream, where heat-induced circulation and increased sweating help to expel the toxins from the body. Clients can adjust the temperature of each of the coat’s four zones by 1-degree increments up to 130 degrees. The optional booster spray creates a barrier on skin that compels the body to sweat even more. Some users find they lose up to 2 pints of sweat and burn as many as 1,400 calories in a single session, a feat usually reserved for running a marathon inside a volcano
Anyone ever do this? Does it work? I'm so curious.

All these things do is push out some water weight and the next day you will be right back to where you started.5

I bought 12 far infrared body wrap sessions at a local spa and I'm now a total believer in detoxing this way. The thing I noticed most is that My cloudy thinking went away. People were commenting on my weight loss too. I bought it for the weight loss aspect and wasn't expecting much more but I felt better and could think more clearly too.-1

Since it's been, scientifically proven that; any benefits're mythical, what you've experienced, is: 1 a placebo effect & 2 you made other healthy changes that, contributed to your weight loss & concentration but're crediting this; product instead! Why wouldn't you take credit for, the hard work that you put in to accomplishing that feat; rather than giving that credit away?4 -
LOL blatant advertising is blatant.
Give me the name of ONE "toxin" that you're "detoxing" with these "wraps".5 -
How does this work for mental clarity? Confused.1

Well, there's a groupon for something that can help with that in the OP.5 -

Of course the website says that, they want people to buy their product.
I've heard body wraps make a person feel good. However, any fat loss is going to have to happen in the kitchen.
By the way, there is no reason to detox your body because your body is already a keen mean detoxing machine!

If you lost weight, its because of a calorie deficit, which happened to take place during the time when you were doing the wraps. The only magic those wraps have is the magic the individual gives it.
I'm glad your thinking is less cloudy too. Weight loss and self-care have excellent benefits!0 -

OP. Contact the company with this one question...
"Which toxins?"
Also next birthday ask for a box of critical thinking.jamiengirls wrote: »I bought 12 far infrared body wrap sessions at a local spa and I'm now a total believer in detoxing this way. Because you stop running around like a headless chicken and sit still for half an hour or whatever while being wrapped in a glorified electric blanket (IR is just heat, people, same as in your toaster) and told you'll feel better. I'm sure it's very relaxing, and elevated stress levels are bad for cognition.
Edit: a hot water bottle and a sympathetic friend would be cheaper.3 -

I'm.....so sorry.
Cloudy thinking went away. Two reasons:
1. You were retaining water
2. Placebo effect.
As for weight loss, point 1 was it. You were retaining water as there is no possible way those wraps created a calorie deficit to cause fat loss.
It's scientifically proven to not contribute to weight loss.
And way to bump up a 4-5 year old necro thread with woo to support woo.0 -
