What do you eat when you are sick?

I am not really feeling the low carb, healthy goodness today, just want to curl up with some soup and take a nap. Antibiotics mess my stomach up badly. When you are sick do you stick to your plan or do you just eat what you want? I know I will not go over in calories, but I will probably over do it on sugar because of all the hidden sugar in meds, juices, etc. I know I should theoretically be the one who knows about this, but I've never been seriously ill while watching my intake before.
Thanks in advance for any advice,

Curling up with soup and a nap sound good to me! If you have a cold or flu, I suggest some good vegetable soup like minestrone (sp?) and add a dash of cayenne pepper to it. If it's a stomache flu, a chicken broth based soup is good. Stay away from protien and fatty food if your stomach is upset. They are harder to digest.0

Don't worry about it, eat what your body wants. The more quickly you recover, the more quickly you can get back to burning calories exercising.0

I generally go the soup route myself - But it's got to be Lipton chicken noodle out of the box
Weird thing is that once I'm feeling better I crave meat like nothing else - Like to the point that I could sit down & eat a porterhouse!!0 -
I'd try to stay in calorie range, BUT, I'd eat what sounded good first and foremost. I'm of the belief that the body will tell you what it needs. If it is telling you some soup and a nap, then do it!0

Usually the only things I want when I'm feeling under the weather are Mrs. Grass Homestyle Chicken Noodle Soup, OJ and tons of ZZZ's.0

Ever since I was a little kid, I always crave a meatball hoagie when I am sick. Too bad I can't get my mommy to go get one for me anymore!0

I go with the BRAT diet when I fall ill: Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast. And lots of hot peppermint or ginger tea, depending on the ailment.0

Don't worry about calories when you're sick. Just eat what you can keep down/what makes you feel better. I find that gingerale with a little apple juice in it really helps for nausea. Make sure you drink a lot of fluids (in the form of tea or broth or something)!!0

Usually I am way under on my calories when I have a cold. I eat chicken soup and drinks loads of hot tea. I also take 2 chewable vitamin C tablets a day while sick. I avoid dairy because it seems to produce excess mucus (gross, I know).0

Unfortunately, everything. The trick is to eat super healthy so you don't get sick.
Seriously, soup and crackers. Oatmeal. Comfort foods. NOT cookies.

What ever actually sounds good. Typically I don't want much of anything and just have lots of broth.0

I often find that soup isn't filling enough by itself, so if I'm unwell ill get some crackers and put them in the soup so they go all sloppy and then eat them. It sounds gross I know but it adds a little bulk to my meal and some different flavour0

I was sick last week for the first time since starting this and I didn't eat hardly anything, and the choices I made were baaad haha. I just ate what I wanted and then took naps. I wouldn't worry about counting or anything if you're majorly sick.0

Last night I was hit by the tummy bug that one of my daughters has just had. Today I have eaten buttered toast for breakfast, and peanut butter on toast for lunch and dinner. All washed down with a couple of glasses of diet coke (which I normally hate!) and several mugs of decaff coffee. Can you guess I'm a carbs girl?! Back to normal balanced eating tomorrow, but today has been about something easy to prepare and easy to eat.0

when i'm sick i have chicken noodle soup at least once a day. when taking antibiotics, i have yogurt in between doses...so if I took an antibiotic at noon i would eat yogurt at 2:30 and take the other round of antibiotics at 5 pm0

When I am sick, I always want a Chipotle burrito or Mexican food. Clears out the sinuses and the spices are great for your health.
If you feel a cold coming on, eating raw garlic can also help, if you can stand the taste.0 -
I like toast with a little margarine. Sometimes I will eat Cream of Wheat as well. I am ot big on soup but I saw somebody said Mrs. Grass chicken noodle soup. I didn't even know they made that. It used to be my favorite. Can anybody tell me where I can purchase it. Does it still have the golden ball?0

Spicy soup - get that mucus flowing.0

^THIS. Also, be sure you are rested enough before you get back to working out. The worst thing you can do is go back before you're fully recovered and then feel worse.0 -
I eat what I want when I'm not feeling well. Sometimes it's good stuff, and sometimes it's not-so-good stuff. When I'm sick I don't usually feel like eating much anyway, so I don't worry about the calories, etc.....0

Pho
Chicken noodle soup
Saltines
And as many Cold Eeze lozenges as I can stomach. Zinc kills the bugs.
When needing to just sleep instead of coughing all night, Nyquil.
When it gets really bad, and cold outside, a shot of Drambuie (Do NOT mix with cola unless you like to vomit)
Drambuie is the original Nyquil.0 -
Recently I was really sick with flue for ten days. Had bad fever and etc. I was eating healthy except of I had some chocolate cake. But didn't go over my 1200 calories a day, maybe once or twice.
Do whatever makes you get back in shape.0 -

I have had a sinus infection for three weeks, just crossed the line where I couldn't ignore it anymore. Nothing tastes right, but the only things that sound like food are simple carbs. i just ate a plain baked potato.0
