I am 48 years old, have two kids in their 20's who have lots of friends. There are a couple of their friends that do things that make me cringe, and i dont know if it is because of my age or ??
what are your thoughts about people flatulating while eating? is it just me that thinks its gross? or?
women "farmers blowing" and or hawking up loogies and spitting them constantly.. even while others are eating.
for the most part, these are good kids, and i enjoy their company...but i have taken to eating in my room since my appetite has been ruined numerous times by the aforementioned habits.
please let me know if it's just me, and also state your age pls .... will help me know if its generational...
thanks all:)

Oh no.. I'm 23 and believe me, many things people do my age makes me cringe too... some 20 somethings are a disgrace... There is no need for it and I too would eat in a separate room, that's disgusting!0

I am sorry if I am old-fashioned at my tender age of 37, but I don't believe this is a generation thing - and if somebody says it is, then that's just their excuse to be rude and disgusting! Manners are never a generation thing, they are a matter of one has them or not.0

I am 57 years young , and i would tell them in no uncertain terms that it is not acceptable for them to do those things in other peoples company, especially when people are eating , and the second one you pointed out i find very offencive no matter where they are , makes me want to be sick just thinking about it , and no i dont htink it is an age thing ,its called good manners .0

it isnt a generation thing, its manners! x0

It's not an age gap thing that behaviour simply isn't acceptable at any age. I'm 47 and have two children age 18 and 21and they both have lots of friends who are frequently round our house. None of them have ever behaved like this in front of me and I would say something if they did.
Why are you the one leaving the room tell them if they want to behave like pigs then they can go outside as pigs are not allowed in the house!0 -
@melani8289- i have applied for SS disability, and am living with my daughter and her bf until it comes in.. this is not my home, so i really dont have the right to say anything. My daughter thinks its gross as well, but it is her bf's sister that does most of it, so she doesnt say much either and i dont blame her as she doesnt want to rock the boat. i do realize that im older and there will be things that are generational... i just couldnt believe this would be. my daughter has told me she is so thankful i taught her manners ... she said she hated being corrected while young, but she is grateful now... as long as it's not my kids doing it, i should be thankful0

Maybe their own parents didn't teach them... My house or not I'd still say something to the affect of that's very rude and disturbing would you mind not doing it while I'm eating please... It might work you never know until you try. And no offense but your daughter should not be afraid to speak up if she lives there too and doesn't like it. That's not a good sign if she's afraid of her boyfriend's reaction if she were to speak her mind??? Just my outsider perspective....0 -
It is your house so they are guests and should follow your rules. Everyone has that embarrassing "oops" from time to time but if they they it's "cute" i would un-invite them and tell them why!
My girls are 14 and a few years ago we had their birthday party at a local rollar skating rink. One friend thought it was hillarious to smack the cake in her face which of course also led to me cleaning cake all up off the floor. The next year the girls had a Halloween party at our apartment. They invited everyone BUT that girl. She called and actually asked why she wasn't invited (something I would have never been brave enough to do so kudos for that especially since she was polite when she did so). I took the phone and simply explained that I think she is a sweet girl and I'm glad my girls are friends with her. They all get along nicely. yada yada. Then I said "However you eat like a pig" and I reminded her of the party at the rink and said I did not want my house treated like that. She apolgized and asked if she was on her best eating behaviour if she could come. I said yes. She came. Everyone had a great time.
One of the other girls invited - who was new to their little group - started to do somethig inappropriate and ya know it was this girl who almost was not invited who pointed out that it was not appropriate behaviour and that I did not put up with that!0 -
Hey....I agree that there is an order of things. If one can hold it, he should mind the aroma that others take it. Sometimes (and I know this) it is unclenchable. In that case it is best to let it go somewhere where you are isolated, or in a bathroom.
Farting is natural. I will not go into the science of it, but lets just say you can thank fiber for that. Bananas make me toot and flute more than anything, so I avoid them.
I usually burb if I can. Burping is natural, too, only less odorous. But I am a guy, and I will scratch my butt when I want to. I didn't grow up in the 50's, yall.
All in all, and for most people, the farting is just a sign that you need to take a crap. So, do not ignore it. Once you release the feces, the farting will usually stop. The gas has to be pressured out that way from somewhere, right? Sometimes it also means that you will need to take a crap soon, and maybe not at that moment.
Beans, beans, the musical fruit!
The more you eat, the more you toot!
The more you toot, the better you feel!
So lets have beans at every meal!0
