Lifting with the Implanon

Okay, so I got my Implanon a week ago, and I've not been to the gym since because I am scared to build up muscle over the implant and I had been doing a lot of upper body training recently. However, lifting has been the one thing that has helped me be successful in my weight loss (plus I have a lot of fun - who knew?) so I don't want to quit.
A friend advised me to focus more on core and lower body lifts (lunges, squats, rack pulls, etc.) and I wanted to see if there was anybody here who had the implanon and continued to lift without it getting buried in muscle and being cut out.
More related to this particular board, I'm looking for more lifts/exercises I can use to work out my core and my lower body. Suggestions?

I got Implanon about a year ago and besides being told to take a break from exercise the day it was implanted, that is the only instruction I got from my doctor. Took a couple weeks for overall soreness to go away but I'm completely back to normal which includes weights. I also years ago had the Norplant and no problems. I'm no doctor but I would think the the leaner you get the more you will be able to see/feel the implant under your skin making removal no big deal. So keep doing whatever your doing. Three years from now it shouldn't be a problem.0

I have Implanon and I lift. It's inserted just under the skin, it's above the muscle, so muscle can't grow over it. From what I understand when muscle grows it's old muscle ripping and healing itself, if there is no muscle above the implant, none can grow there. Check with your Doctor if your really worried, but I havent had any problems.0

That sucks! I know when I first got it the initial itching had me worried that it wouldn't take but now I don't think about it.0 -
