Pilates DVDs/ Videos vs. Real Class?

Hi everyone! I'll be starting my Pilates class in January. However, I wanted to know if it was possible for me to start now with DVDs & Netflix/ Youtube (proper workout videos, of course) & still get the same benefits. Are DVDs worth it, or should Pilates be a class-only experience (like yoga in my opinion)?

If you are new to pilates then a class is probably best, only because the instructor will really be able to help you with form. I've been doing it for about 4 years (mat and reformer classes) and form is so important. The videos are great, don't get me wrong, but if you are new, I'd pay really close attention to what the instructors are saying about form, posture, etc...Enjoy!!!0

I do both DVDs and classes. I'm so glad I started w/ DVDs first. After my first class I decided I had to work harder at home to get through the classes.0
