No pics - but eat at a calorie deficit and lose body fat.

You have to reduce your overall fat on your entire body.
As you continue to lose, you will eventually see that fat on you back come off.
I find the belly and thigh area are the last areas where fat will come off.

Its about overall body fat loss. No specific exercise will magically take it off.

Now the exercises mentioned will firm up the muscles which will make the areas more firm. More like the look you may be going for. Belly Fat, though, what you eat is a huge factor in making those abs a six pack!

very true.. that graphic artist was not a squatter.. the knees, look at the head position when at the bottom (plus not deep enough for me).. in addition, would get better engagement of posterior chain if lift started with hip raise. Rippletoe would also advise to carry the bar much lower. LOL
that is too much fun from one stupid graphic. lol.

on the actual topic. dropping fat is a result of diet, not a specific exercise (you can not spot reduce). I would agree with other posters that advise sticking with core strength exercises though. I see far too many people in gyms that when lifting free weights will ONLY do bench press and curls (usually in a squat rack).. thats why i have gotten to dislike generic box gyms.

This man knows his stuff. Google Starting Strength and have a go at it.

Can you say neck pain. And the elbows. Wouldn't that bar roll straight down his back.
