So ive just used this site http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm
and it says i should be eating 2081 a day for loss/ 1904 for extreme loss.
ive been on 1200 for a week and lost 9lbs (which im delighted with - you can't tell yet, im still pretty fat Lol)
but obviously 1200 isnt a long term goal - Should i continue another week and try again with whatever weight i am then, or change calories now(probably to 1904 first then 2081)?
- on the plus side - i can breathe!!! im sure that 9lb has all come from my chest, my heavy breathing has all but gone!

Your site is probably closer to what is healthy for YOU than 1200 random MFP number that EVERYONE gets for 2lbs/week loss.
Check out the 'roadmap' http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/654536-in-place-of-a-road-map-2-0-revised-7-2-12 It will get you on the right track.0 -
If you aren't having problems keeping up with the 1200 cals, you might want to stick to it for a few weeks (depends on you. I know I couldn't).
Keep in mind that a lot of that 9 pounds from your first week is water weight.0 -
Do you know how many calories you were eating before you started? If you were eating 2500 then I'd go down to 2000 for a couple weeks and then lower down every couple weeks. 1200 is too drastic of a change. I eat 1500 calories a day, and it seems to fit me and work for me, but everyone is different. I personally do not get full or feel satisfied on 1200 calories a day. The 9 pounds you've lost already could possibly be all water weight, so the next week be prepared for a slower change. Either way, kudos to you. You're on the right path. Message me if you have any questions or need any help. I'm no nutrionist or personal trainer but I've lost 92 pounds on my own before and now I'm on round two, almost there again.0

If you're going by MFP settings here is a good guideline as you should be setting your goals on the amount of weight you still need to lose. People trying to lose those last 10 should not be choosing "lose 2lbs a week" and starving themselves.
75lbs or more: Choose to lose 2lbs/week
40-75 pounds: Choose to lose 1.5lbs/week
25-40 pounds: Choose to lose 1lb/week
15-20 pounds: Choose either 1/2lb or 1lb
Less than 15/20 pounds: choose 1/2 lb/week0 -
I agree with the above.. slow loss is better as it can help prevent saggy skin and muscle loss. Also initial weight loss is always high and not uncommon to see 10 lbs in a week. After that you should aim for 1-2 lbs per week.0

My thought s would be doubtful that you lost 9 lbs of fat. If it is the first week of low calorie the majority of it is reduced volume in the intestinal track and fluctuations in hydration. Its your choice to pick your calorie intake, but making changes on a week by week basis is going to make it nearly impossible to establish a base line to determine how things are progressing and what is and is not working.0

Also, if you're burning almost 900-1000 calories a day exercising (I peeked at your diary) then you need to eat more then 1200 calories. You're only netting 300 calories a day! Way too low!0

If it were me id probably go in the middle of the two. Somewhere around 1700. But im a 1200 girl so what do i know.0
