Hello,
I have just been off school, with a bug for a few days and I'm glad to say that I'm back on track and I can now spend the weekend catching up on all the work I missed -_-. But I was wondering, how do you all make wise food choices and deal with exercise etc. when you're too ill to go into school or work and all you feel you can do is lie down and munch on food ?

Hi Crystal,
I'm glad to hear you're feeling better, but I'm sorry you were so ill. Fighting the 'lurgey' is annoying.
My biggest problem is getting enough food in. These past three weeks I've been dealing with a really sick cat who has pneumonia with asthmatic complications, so there have been times I get home and run straight out the door with him to the ER vet. By the time I get home, it's nearly midnight and the thought of food is nauseating and I don't like eating that late. During the day, however, I try to stick to eating a bit of protein, good vegetables and fruits to pack in as much nutrients as I can. Although it's not ideal or favorable to skip dinner, I know I've at least had some vitamins and minerals.
As for exercise, my gym membership expired a couple of months ago and I can't afford to renew right now, so the best I can do is videos. However, I've heard that you should not exercise when sick because it can push the bacteria/virus into your heart and cause very nasty infections that can put you in hospital.
Your body uses a lot of energy to fight off whatever infection you might have, so I think exercising when you're ill can do more detriment than good, so I wouldn't worry about that. When you feel better, start out lightly with some walking and gradually build back into your normal routine.
I think you're doing wonderfully and wouldn't worry about what happened(s) when you're ill. Just concentrate on getting some protein, vitamins, minerals and water into your body (I drink tons of water), and carry on when you're feeling better. I hope this helps! I wish you all the very best. You're doing fantastic! :-)0 -

Hello,
I am perfectly fine and fully recovered now and so's my dad [who brought the horrid thing in in the first place] thankfully . But I really hope your cats okay, it sounds like a truly horrible thing to be going through .
It's funny that you say you struggle to eat enough when ill. I find unless I'm throwing up that my problem is eating too much. I'm not sure why, maybe it's the boredom or maybe it's my binge eating gremlins at work again, who knows -_- I just find it interesting .
I am also a poor student who can't afford gym membership what videos do you use? I have a DVD but there's only one I can really use [Because of the angle of my laptop and the fact that our family TV is never available] and it would be good to get an exercise routine going, rather than just going about my daily business like I am now .0
