Is it flattery or should I just believe it?

Ya know, for the past week or so, my son has been telling me things like this:

"You're getting smaller mommy"

"You're looking good mommy"

"You're looking slimmer mommy"

This morning he said:

"you're eyes are getting bigger, because you're getting thinner"

I normally just smile at him or hug him and say thanks, but I really haven't believe him AT ALL...because when I look in the mirror, I not only don't see it...I look bigger to me. I've just been "gracious" and saying thank you my son, but honestly have been discounting it as "flattery" because he's a nice boy and sees me exercising and working hard. Today though, when he told me that about my eyes looking bigger, because I'm getting thinner...I thought about YOU GUYS of all things. May be I/we shouldn't be so, ummmmm....dismissive of these compliments our wonderful family and/or friends are telling us? Maybe we should TAKE IT and believe it--even though we ourselves "aint feeling it nor seeing it" My beloved boyfriendish hubby has also been telling me things like this...but then again, he and my son are just alike, so I've rejected it from him as well--again, because I just DON'T SEE IT!!!!!!:indifferent:

Today, I'll take it , I'll make myself agree with my son & my hubby and count it as a NSV...no matter how much I want to count it as untrue or flattery from a sweet & wonderful son and a nice and terrirfic hubby. I'll DARE to go along with it, by FAITH I reckon!

Believe it! And compare some photos so you can see it, too! We look at ourselves all the time in the mirror, in windows, where ever, and we're so critical (our own worse critic - I speak from experience). We see ourselves through our "fat glasses." Now it's time to start seeing ourselves as others see us! Good job on the weight loss...keep it up!

Aww, that's so sweet. Take it! You deserve it!

Now, pat yourself on the back for raising a sweet boy. His future wife will appreciate it! :)

I honestly still think I look the same as I did 4 months ago when I started being fitter
and the same as 2 months ago when I started MFP and watching what I eat

the first people that started to say something were those close to me (they say they notice first before the general public)
and because they knew they I had been dieting, I assumed they were just being nice

in the past few weeks though, more and more people, including those that I work with have noticed a change
and none of them even knew I was watching what I was eating - so their comments HAVE to be genuine!!

I say believe your son. He knows what he's talking about more than you can see yourself =)

I believe kids are overly honest when it comes to these types of things, and mostly because they don't understand. Many times before I started this journey, my daughter would make not so nice comments to me about my weight. I know her intent was not to hurt my feelings she was just saying what she thought and didn’t realize that her words would hurt. She is a very sweet and kind little girl and would never internally hurt anyone, but didn’t realize the magnitude of her words. However, at the same time it’s what I get, because I know I would say rude comments about myself in front of her as well. So I do believe your son is being very honest with you and thinks you look great! And as another poster said cherish it!

kids can only speak the truth when it comes to stuff like this...

my daughter tells me every so often that i look smaller...she is four and showers me with praise and affection for my efforts, as does my 8 year old...but i never fish for it or ask them if i look smaller...

they cant believe my before pictures and will often ask if im sure that is me...
