Any repair should not take this long!!!

I need some advice. Over a year ago I spent $300 on a Blackberry Playbook. I broke it 2 months after getting it from putting the charger in upside down and ruining the charging port. After like 6 months of just putting it up somewhere, I finally decided to get it fixed. Would cost be over $100 to repair it.
So my best friend, who is also my husbands cousin...Told me basically why pay to have it fixed when a really good friend of hers works for RIM (the company that produces blackberrys) She told me in the beginning that she could give it to him on a Thursday and it would be fixed the following Thursday.
Its been at least 7 weeks
. For the longest time I didnt say anything because I didnt want to nag. But then I started asking about 2 weeks ago, Just saying things like so uh.... heard anything about my playbook yet?...Always a no.
So the other day I asked if maybe she could call the guy and get an update. She gave me this snarky "fiiine" answer as if she was getting annoyed. I told her thats why I wasnt saying anything because I knew this is for free and I should just be happy is getting fixed and that I dont want to bug her about it.
So apparently she talked to the guy and he said he hasnt heard anything about it yet. I asked if he would steal it and they have 2 playbooks of their own so...no. She told me its not like I was using it before it went in for repairs...true...But I would of paid to get it fixed a while ago and had it back by now and use it constantly.
Sooooo...what should I do!!???
For anyone who doesnt know what a Playbook is....Its like a smaller version of an iPad.

This seems like a messy situation. The pessimist in me thinks that you are not going to see that Playbook again. I'd say someone owes you the cost of getting it replaced, if they can't return it to you, or provide some evidence that it is actually being serviced.0

But how would I go about it without being a btch about it?
Maybe I should ask my husband to talk to her.0 -
And to add...these really dont seem like the kind of people to be so shady and rip somebody off.0

Yeah I don't think you're seeing that playbook again....and sometimes there's no way of going about it other then the direct way....it's your playbook that's been gone for almost 2 months....it's not unreasonable to wonder or think the worst0 -
Yeah unfortunately this seems fishy and weird.
I would tell your friend you need the Playbook back by x date (soon), fixed or not. Its been too long and everything is weird and I can see it getting messy with your friend/husband's cousin very quickly since she seems to already have attitude towards you about it.0 -
My 6th sense tells me you weren't really gonna pay to have it fixed, but were just talking about it, and she decided to "help" you out, when she heard you chatting about it. I could be wrong.
Long story short, she is right, that you weren't using it, and why complain about something getting fixed for free, taking longer than it should.
No offense, but when you cut corners, ie; free fixing, things can go wrong quickly. Possibly a friendship can go sour, ect.
My advice, always pay, then you have a receipt, and if something goes wrong you B*tch at the company that serviced it, rather than your friend, and it will get repaired, again.
I'm not saying you wouldn't be in the right to b*tch at them if something went wrong, it's just alot messier than working with a company.
Just my 3 cents.0 -

Actually... I was going to go out the next day to get it fixed.
Im complaining because the only use I have now for internet use is my playstaion 3. If my hubby is busy on it I have to not so patiently wait for my turn to go online. I just miss being able to quickly jump online for something.
Im going to talk to her about it as gently as I can. Maybe even call up RIM and ask them whats up.0
