Is hunger genetic

So I have been observing people I know and looking at how much they eat, how often they get hungry, and if they are overweight or thin and it seems that fat people just seem to naturally want to eat more and thin people do not get as hungry. Why would this be?

Thin people don't want to be fat, that's why they watch what they eat.0

I don't know. :indifferent:0

Overweight people usually eat when they're not hungry, or else they probably wouldn't be overweight.0

I think it has to do more with the way you were raised. What eating habits become " normal" for you. The more you eat, the more you want to eat. When you eat less your body adjusts.0

How do you think the thin people got thin? By eating less..Never judge random people by what they are eating at the time.
The overweight person eating a lot? They could have already lost a bunch of weight and are still working on it.
That thin person eating a salad? Could have been an overweight person and is now thin because they take more care in their food choices now.0 -
It could be partly genetic, and it could also be the food choices you make. This is my experience:
Sugar is like a drug, and the more I eat of it, the more I want of it. Same thing with fatty, greasy foods.
However, the cleaner you eat, (ie, veggies, fruits, lean meats, etc.) the more satisfied you will feel on these high nutrient, low calorie foods. You're more likely to quit eating when full, and this especially makes it easier if you are trying to stay under a daily calorie limit.0 -
Yes all humans get hungry0

Well, you seem to be assuming that people only eat when they're hungry. For many people, that couldn't be further from the truth. The reasons people eat can be as different as the people themselves are. Also, to be honest, observing people really doesn't tell you how hungry they are. You never know if someone lets himself get "starving" hungry before eating, or just a little hungry, in which case a person would possibly eat less. Also, a larger person naturally requires more food to maintain their weight...
Of course, if you were just asking the question in the title, I would say, I guess you could call it that, but I would describe it more as an imperative.0
