So I'm doing a group project for a class and we've decided to include a short survey. It'd be great if I could get answers from anybody on MFP. If you're worried about personal info its not included in the survey.

1. Do you have a Facebook?
2. What do you like about Facebook?
3. About how many times a day do you look at Facebook?
4. On a scale of 1, 2, 3: How appropriate do you think your Facebook is to the eyes of future employers? (1 being very appropriate and 3 being not appropriate at all.
5. Do you care what is on your Facebook page?

    1. Do you have a Facebook? Yes
    2. What do you like about Facebook? Keeping connected with friends
    3. About how many times a day do you look at Facebook? Every time I pick up my cell phone
    4. On a scale of 1, 2, 3: How appropriate do you think your Facebook is to the eyes of future employers? (1 being very appropriate and 3 being not appropriate at all. 2 I don't put anything super crazy on there, but a future employer wouldn't be able to see my profile anyway because of privacy settings
    5. Do you care what is on your Facebook page? of course I do, my facebook page is a partial reflection of my personality. What people see on there will effect how they think of me.

    1. Yes
    2. It helps me keep in contact with people that I otherwise would have a hard time keeping track of - for example, my friends from Chile, when I was an exchange student. Also the Chilean family as well.
    3. wayyyyyyyy to many. I always have it open, except when I'm at school or in class.
    4. I'd say it's medium appropriate. I'm not stupid enough to let them see it, though. I know how to use the privacy settings. And the only things that are "inappropriate" on there, are occasionally I use cuss words.... and maybe me drinking a couple of glasses of wine.. .so really depending on the profession, that would be ok.
    5. Not a very good question.... duh I care, I'm not going to put something that I don't want on there?

    5. Do you care what is on your Facebook page?
    1. Yes, since 2005 when it was still restricted to people with university email accounts.
    2. Quick contact to keep up with a large number of people in many different parts of my life; information network for career, keep in touch with family and friends.
    3. nine or ten times a day--very active.
    4. (1). I keep it completely appropriate for many reasons, first of all being career implications if I don't, and also because my kids and other young people I am associated with have access to read what I say. Gotta set a good example.
    5. ABSOLUTELY. For the same reasons stated above.

That I can speak to almost anyone, since almost everyone I know has it. Getting updates on people's lives that you don't live near by anymore.

I always have facebook open, and I look at it on my phone a lot. At least 30 times a day.

    1. Do you have a Facebook? Yes
    2. What do you like about Facebook? I get to stay in touch and be involved in the lives of my family who live far away and because we were military for so long and traveled all over the country...we get to stay in touch with the friends we made everywhere we lived over 23 years. Its also currently the only way I get to be in contact with my son who is also military and is stationed on the other side of the world
    3. About how many times a day do you look at Facebook? I'm on it all day...don't want to miss a green dot from my son
    4. On a scale of 1, 2, 3: How appropriate do you think your Facebook is to the eyes of future employers? (1 being very appropriate and 3 being not appropriate at all. appropriate for employers? If employers want to really see their employees, yeah...they'd want to see their facebook page; now on discriminating them for their religion or political beliefs? that would be wrong.
    5. Do you care what is on your Facebook page? Of course, It would not be there if I would be embarrassed for my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, other relatives, professional contacts, employers, etc to see it.

    1. Yes
    2. I love that I can stay connected with my friends and market my business at the same time on FB.
    3. I don't think prospective or current employers have the right to look at my FB. That being said, anything I put out on the internet is a risk. So I'm personally waiving my own privacy if I put anything out on the internet or text message.
I'm missing a question here lol
    5. Yes I care what is on my FB b/c I run my online business and have several coworkers from my day job, as well as kids from old bus runs on there. Anything too inappropriate gets deleted immediately and person gets warned. I don't care if it's the Pope, if they are rude or disrespectful they get blocked. Period.

I just remembered the other question:
I'm pretty much in and out of FB all day between my personal page, business page (shameless plug here...go like KISS Fitness lol), my Fitness Challenge Groups I have on there. But of course real life comes first lol

    2. What do you like about Facebook? I like that it gives me a way to contact friends when my phone is broken (like now). Also, I like the event feature; it keeps track of all of parties and other activities as well as send out invites.
    3. About how many times a day do you look at Facebook? Many....
    4. On a scale of 1, 2, 3: How appropriate do you think your Facebook is to the eyes of future employers? (1 being very appropriate and 3 being not appropriate at all. 1- I really don't do anything bad enough to make my facebook unprofessional
    5. Do you care what is on your Facebook page? not particularly, if I don't post it it's not really my issue.

    1. Do you have a Facebook? Yes
    2. What do you like about Facebook? That I can get news about family far away who usually would forget to tell me important stuff (like the fact that my brother was getting married) pre-FB. Also that I can post pictures and news of my kids for the grandparents so they can be in the loop even though they don't live close.

    3. About how many times a day do you look at Facebook? 3-4 maybe. Not really sure. Don't count.

    4. On a scale of 1, 2, 3: How appropriate do you think your Facebook is to the eyes of future employers? (1 being very appropriate and 3 being not appropriate at all. 1 in terms of there is very little on there that could be considered rude or crude or suggestive and reflective badly on me in that regard; nor do I engage in online rants and tantrums that could put an employer off. But if they are looking for a page that is totally career-oriented and professional, they won't find it. It's alot of family and friends sharing kid pictures and news and inspirational stuff or asking for prayers in a tough situation, stuff like that. Personal stuff but nothing anyone could consider bad or offensive for the most part. Just depends on what they are looking for. But unless they take the time to send me a friend request, my privacy settings wouldn't show them anything anyway

    5. Do you care what is on your Facebook page? Well, yes. I have deleted posts that are laced with an excess of profanity or nudity or other such things that I wouldn't want my kids to see. Even had to take a couple of people off for repeatedly posting such inappropriate things. But that's the exception rather than the rule. I don't mind people's political opinion posts popping up on my page -- I don't read them all, but it doesn't bother me to hear the different viewpoints, as long as said viewpoint doesn't amount to hate mongering but just a respectful stating of a personal opinion. I'm not terribly fond of the posts from a few that amount to a diary of the drama in their lives (long story) and illustrate a willingness to return to their own vomit over an over again without changing their destructive habits.....but I am not going to be able to reach out to them and be part of the solution if I reject them, so I just tolerate it for the sake of keeping the doors of relationship open and skim over those posts when I realize that's what they are and move onto the next.

    1. Do you have a Facebook? NO!

    2. What do you like about Facebook? Not interested. I get in touch with people the old fashion way: visits, telephone calls, e-mails. I don’t care to put my life in display.

    3. About how many times a day do you look at Facebook? I am sure that if I had a FB account, I would be there all the time. MFP is enough for me.

    4. On a scale of 1, 2, 3: How appropriate do you think your Facebook is to the eyes of future employers? (1 being very appropriate and 3 being not appropriate at all. I don’t know since I am not on FB.

    5. Do you care what is on your Facebook page? Yes, I would if I were.

    1. Do you have a Facebook?
I have a Facebook account, but I haven't logged in for months, I've never used it very seriously.

    2. What do you like about Facebook?
I don't like it. Not at all.
I'm really not interested in the day to day minutie of people's lives - who cares if they are at a particular pub or have just had a haircut or if they are cranky with their sister in law. I just don't care!
I'm a private person and I don't feel the need to share my life with anyone and his dog (literally!).

But, it has been great for my husband who's family are overseas, so he can see family photos and get a visual update of how they are as well as phone calls.

    3. About how many times a day do you look at Facebook?
    About twice a YEAR.

    4. On a scale of 1, 2, 3: How appropriate do you think your Facebook is to the eyes of future employers? (1 being very appropriate and 3 being not appropriate at all.
The things I post are quite appropriate (the odd holiday photo or birthday shot) but I have concerns about what my "friends" are posting and what employers might think about me because of the types of things that show up from other people's pages. One of the reasons I don't like it.

    5. Do you care what is on your Facebook page?
    Yes.

I think I'm going against the grain here, but I'll keep going.

    1. Yes I do have a Facebook Account.
    2. What do I like? Photos of friends and family

Can I say what I don't like? The distraction it causes and the obsession, and the lack of human interaction. I was recently in a training course which cost around $600 for the day. One of the participants spent the entire day on Facebook. Total waste of time and money - why did she bother going? My partner works at a printing firm and the Operations Manager - again a female and I don't know if this is significant - spends her time between the phone and Facebook, and is constantly getting the orders wrong through lack of concentration.
    3. Yes, I do sound like an old codger, and I am - BUT - I still like Facebook and get a kick out of the updates - it's just that it seems to take over people's lives, and they forget to have a life or pick up the phone and talk to someone or go and see someone. Another instance - a married couple I knew of (now divorced, no surprise) sat next to each other on the couch and sent each other messages!
Yep - I'm an old grump - well I'm really not and I've got a sense of humour (and a thick skin so anyone can say what they like - I can take it!). If you're on Facebook all day - when do you work and how well are you concentrating on what you're doing? Just askin'
    4. Appropriate for future Employers - see above. If I was an employer and I knew that my workers were spending over 50% of their time on Facebook, I guess I'd be having a close look at their work output.
    5. Content? Haven't got a problem - pretty easy to delete anything that you don't like.
Hurrumph Bah Humbug - Grumpy old Woman is alive and well!
