hi guys, so i'm desperate here. i started my journey almost 3 months ago and, what felt almost effortlessly, lost 29 pounds. it was really consistent, 2 pounds a week without fail. until about 2 weeks ago. the first week, the scale jumped up one pound from my lowest weight and stayed there all week. the second week, another pound up and stayed there all week.

according to an app on my phone, i was ovulating all this week. and my lowest weight was taken right after my last period.

i drink 2-3 liters of water a day, probably more because i've started drinking green tea in the mornings. i was doing kettlebell workouts for about a month and then i started to incorporate more HIIT workouts along with it.

i know a lot of you on here don't like to pay attention to the scale but at my [high] weight, i think it's kind of important lol. i did lose 3 inches off my waist in the last 3 months. knowing that is what's been keeping me from going crazy lol.

any help would be appreciated!!!! thank you guys!

As long as you are doing what you know is right, then there is nothing to worry about. That is a small fluctuation of the scale. I could easily gain 3-4 pounds overnight and keep it up for 2-3 weeks, and then all of a sudden drop 5-6 pounds, then maintain a few more weeks, gain, and then lose a large number again.

Take measurements and go by that more than the scale number. Find an outfit you would like to fit into and try it on once a week and see how much closer you are to wearing it, then when you do, find another one that is your next goal.

Hope some of this helps ease your mind that there is nothing wrong. Weight loss is not an exact science. It happens in its own time and way!

Do you weigh everday? My scale is different everyday that I weigh. I can gain & lose the same pound all week long. I think you are probably retaining water. I wouldn't worry too much about it since you are continuing to lose inches. I would take lost inches anyday over weighing less on the scale. Keep your chin up!

The best way to figure it out is to take a good look at your diary and honestly appraise it. I'm sure plenty of people here would be happy to help but they can't because your diary is closed.

Plus what would you rather do - look better, be healthier or have a smaller number that no one else knows?

It could that that TOM, too. I weigh myself every morning and track it in a journal. I've found that I gain a bit just before my TOM, then the day it starts, drop 2 pounds. I hover there all week, then start losing again.

Don't worry about it too much. Fluctuations happen. And you're doing great, so keep on doing what you know works!

    What she said!

Also, it could be the TOM and retaining water.

to me what you are describing is a plateau/stall.... anyone in weight loss experiences then several times in the journey. The most important thing to do is keep honest with what you are eating with portions etc... keep exercising, watch your measurements (for it's sometimes during these times we lose inches). It's hard to stay motivated at these times and it can be very frustrating but don't give up...keep at it... the scale will show a drop again. n yes those times of the month can retain that water.. it will pass.

One thing you can try (though it can feel very difficult to do) is spend a week eating a little more and exercising a little less. I find when I hit a plateau (when I'm doing everything right but not losing an ounce or even gaining) a bit of "cheating" revs my metabolism back up.

What do you have your goal set to? try dropping it to losing just a 1/2 lb a week or even maintenance and switch your workouts to something a little less strenuous (usually I just walk and do yoga when I'm trying to break a plateau) give it a week and then go back to your normal routine and see if that helps.

Also some things to consider: make sure you're getting enough protein! mfp has my goal set to 62 grams per day (pre-workout) but I shoot for closer to 100 especially on heavy lifting days. If you don't get enough protein to help rebuild the muscles you're working it can stall weight loss to.
