Insanity and other fitness questions~

Hello everyone! To start off, I am 5'4, 113-115 pounds, 16 years old.
Although Im quite fit already, I really want to tone up and achieve a really lean physique; I have maybe 1-2 inches of fat covering my abs >:(.
Currently I've been doing ZWOWS( intense circut training) plus some weight lifting but want to challenge myself. I want to start the insanity program but I can't follow the nutrition plan because it is just too much work and too expensive for a busy high school student like me. However, I am eating very healthy ( whole foods, lean protein, veggies, complex carbs) and as of right now I stay around 1500-1600 calories.
So my question is, would I still see results with Insanity if I just eat healthy but not following their nutrition guide? I will try to hit the macros 40/40/20 though. Also, how many calories should I be consuming? I know the insanity workouts are intense but I dont have a HMR to determine exactly how much I burn. I plan to eat 1700 calories, is that too low or just right?
Lastly, insanity seems really carido heavy. I plan to incoperate some weight lifting sessions too, maybe 2x a week upper and lower body. is that a good idea?
thanksss!

You'll be told by almost everyone on the forums to get off the forums and mfp, as it's "legally" only for 18+. You have been warned!0

However, since you don't appear to be trying to starve yourself to being a catwalk skeleton and are actively trying to improve your health and fitness, anyone attempting to discourage you can be disregarded. I'm doing Insanity (just finished week 3), it's hard work but it sounds like you're up to the job. If you're pushing yourself I'd consider upping your intake a little. Everyone's different but it's a case of finding your sweet spot. If you're doing 1,600 a day, Insanity will probably knock another 3-400 from someone your size. I'd start on 2,000 total for the first couple of weeks of the program and then see how you're getting on and adjust from there. I'm not following the nutrition guide, I'm taking in around 2,300ish on a 40/30/30 split and seeing very good results already. Good luck!0

Thankyou so much for your encouragement. I will up my intake for two weeks and see how it goes, good luck to you too!0 -
Honestly for just toning up I think insanity alone should be enough unless you want to gain muscle. If you're eating right you will definitely see results. You should probably eat a little more than usual, maybe an extra 200-300 calories, because you're going to burn 400-800 calories in each workout. Honestly, I'm no expert, I only know what has worked for me, since you look like you're already in awesome shape I would say just try it out and fix your diet according to how you feel each day. its only 60 days, so not like it's a huge commitment, lol.
As for the age thing I think that only applies to heavy lifting because of bone growth, nothing wrong with eatin right and toning up!0 -
I almost think the new Insanity- Insanity Asylum would be great for someone who doesn't want to loose weight, they want to tone up/get abs.
Look at this transition. This lady started at 120lb and I thought her results were great!

I did a month of Insanity and got bored with all the cardio, but I do really like the way it increases your endurance. Have you considered doing an Insanity hybrid. I just started the P90X/Insanity Hybrid and think that I will like it. If you do a hybrid with some type of strength training on the non-Insanity days, I would think that that would be better for your muscles to recuperate. Just an idea! Good luck with whatever you choose!0

brilliant idea! I dont have p90x though, I will probably just mix in strength interval training and weights thanks0
