Feel free to add me. I won't crtizitize you at all.

I can't really drink milk to begin with but I love yogurt. People tell me that isn't the best thing ever..

    However, I do moderation.

Bread is an empty useless carb filled mess usually...

And milk? OMG... You have any idea how bad it can be for you hahaha... Unless you farm your own milk and don't add anything etc then it is good...

I mean seriously... The only excuse people use for milk is oh calcium usually... And to be honest, it isn't the best source of calcium even, but hey... let the government and stuff tell you what to eat, I mean, most of the people who follow their exact guidelines are fat and unhealthy, so just follow it without question you know... because you can't possibly live healthy without following what was it? like 6-11 servings of grain or something a day? Seriously? Last I checked dieticians usually laugh at those that eat that much and complain about weight etc... And that is just grain serving, not dairy, not meat etc... And a serving of bread is usually 2-3 slices so 160-240 cals a serving, so by their guidelines, so that is quite a lot... and no when you visit nutritionalists, you can't have a dairy source the same as a protein source etc... All very different and complicated....

So please, stop with this blanket setting...

Yes there isn't anything wrong with either milk OR bread, but the guidelines people are supposed to follow is terrible. And actually grains in general are terrible for your body... Do a biology course and you'll understand...

Bread and milk is tasty ...that's my reason for consuming it. And news flash....everything is this world is a contaminated chemical mess that's most likely killing us slowly. You can't obsess about it and stop living. I eat as healthy as I can and treat myself in moderation!

I like what several people said- one in particular- losing weight is easy, its keeping it off and learning to be healthy in the long term that is hard. Some are rather harsh in their feedback- and some are just downright rude. The minute they spew, I scroll past their comments- just like I would in life.

If I were you, I'd first talk to my primary care provider about what diet would work with your medical needs. I'd also begin with food elimination of those trigger foods you know have absolutely no nutritional value, and either find something to replace them in a a recipe, or eliminate completely. Keep those foods as favorites as special occassions and leave it as that. realize when you eat those foods, (whatever they may be for you- for me, they are potatoes in almost any form).

Realize that sustained weight loss comes with real changes. And it won't happen overnight. You will trial and error, you will make mistakes, you'll eat bad- but, if you can use this online tool as a real reflection of what you are putting into your body- you'll learn so much about where the weight gain is coming from.
My diet at my heaviest was between 3000-3500 calories a day!! And I was miserable- I just didn't realize all the empty calories I was eating, I didn't pay attention, and yes, emotional eaters do not pay attention to how much or what it is, they associate food with happiness, and for many years, so did I- until my health took a really bad turn for the worst, and it was time to change or start planning the shorter and sick part of my life.

Feel free to add me as a friend, whether you choose to open your food diary is not my business.

Like I said, some people like pushing their food issues onto others.

Sucks that you have problems with "unclean" foods, but I don't (and so do a few others). I like bread and milk and meat and eating them hasn't hampered my weight loss and health. Honestly, I'll put up with a little DDT if it means no poodles in my bananas.

Losing weight became complicated when people realized they could make money off their diet tips, no matter how wrong they are.
  • Losing weight essentially comes down to three things;

    1. Good Nutrition
    2. Exercise
    3. Motivation

You need to be motivated in the first place before you even think about the other two. Nutrition comes second. A nice healthy balanced diet with all the junk cut out. Then exercise. You can burn a serious amount of fat by just doing quick and hard 20 minute workouts.

It only become complicated when you let it -that said there is a terrible amount of BS circulating the industry it makes me sick. Stick to these three things, get them in order, and you'l start seeing results.

    Hope this helps,

Way I see it, everyone has their own issues and we all do whats best for us. We all need to rant and complain sometimes but that doesnt mean we are asking anyone for suggestions.

Unless asked, I wouldnt offer suggestions on anyones meals or how to lose weight. I delete people for that. I dont push my diet on anyone and I dont want anyone to do that to me. Its pushy, rude and not to mention.. no one elses business but mine. I have my diary open because it keeps me accountible. Not for people to nit pick and tell me im doing it wrong.

I eat things I like.. this includes beer, pizza and burgers. I refuse to eat like a damn rabbit because im not going to do that forever.. im going to learn portion control, and enjoy my foods.. and continue to lose weight.. and KEEP it off by learning food isnt the enemy and that i am in control over what goes into my body. If you dont like it.. tough shiz!

Thats the way i see it anyway!

(walks in, reads post and all replies, bangs head on wall)

Ok...no offense OP...but we ALL have difficulties in our lives...we all have different ways to lose weight that work for us...

If you know what works for you, why not just do that? It's that simple.

The only one who makes it complicated is ourselves.

It is easy to hate and it is difficult to love. This is how the whole scheme of things works. All good things are difficult to achieve; and bad things are very easy to get.

Thanks all for your replies, you are all very motivating, I get asked the "what's left?" Comment all the time and the "why do you have a weight issue?"
What's left: is all grains are not created equal, for one; bread is referred to as wheat based and yeast based breads. I eat potatoes, rice, and oatmeal. I also make homemade almond flour and rice flour for making muffins and breads. Sorry to not elaberate. Also, legumes, veges, fruits, nuts, there is a wide variety of foods out there that isn't just meat and potatoes.
Why do I have a weight issue? Good question, because I have had 5 kids and my thyroid falls to the way side when I get pregnant and I gain 100 plus pounds.
Eating super healthy is hard and knowing what is in something is complicated..wheat is still in Gluten free products.
I have been to a Doctor and they wish their patience had my issues, makes it simple to say don't eat the foods that are triggering adverse reactions.
Some asked about the reactions bloating, vomiting, diarrhea (daily 2 to 3 times before I took out wheat products and meat), heart burn, ibs, rash, dry skin, and way, it has been an 8 yr process firguring out what works for my body and why. The reason I do not do what I did before is because I can't, the products and services no longer exsist, not diet pills just in case you were wondering.
Thanks all for such interesting responses and I feel a lot better. I just get very frustrated with my bodies reaction to food and just the fact that it eliminates so much food during the holidays. :brokenheart:
I am happy to have found so many encouraging people too I was just ranting about the few, :smooched:

When did losing weight become so complicated? I look at all these people losing weight and saying they did this and they did that and I ate this and that to do it or followed such and such a book. When I was losing weight after the first three pregnancies it wasn't easy but doable and I just ate fewer calories and worked out 30 minutes a day and occasionally lifted weights. Now it is Eat More to Lose Weight, Don't eat protein, don't eat to much grain, stay within this calorie range, don't eat this, don't eat that. I am doing a self evaluation on my bodies reaction to certain food so I eat WAY different than the average person, as a matter of fact finding a cook book for how my body reacts to food is near to impossible. I am allergic to wheat and milk. Fats go right through me and so does meat that has any fat on it (Enzyme problem and no not krons or Ciliac) and I can't eat anything with yeast in it. Sodium hates me and bloats me over 1500 mg and yes I have been to a doctor. I was trying to find non critical people on this website and everyone has their own don't do this, exercise to that. I am shocked also when I do post my diary and people immediately criticize about what I am eating. I dropped those friends. I don't need the sarcasm, I need support. I want to point out that they are way over on sodium and eating nothing but milk and bread products and wonder why their weight doesn't come off. Not to mention I am a Mother of 5, Own my own business, and Homeschool 4 kids. It isn't easy being me and why can't this just be easy and why do people have to make weight loss so complicated?????
Now, as to your second issue, weight loss isn't complicated. Eat fewer calories than you burn. That's it. Simple. That's never changed. The "Eat more to Weigh Less" philosophy is still based on this principle, it just allows you to eat more quantity (you can eat more carrots than cookies). Some people have success eating fewer calories when they avoid meat. Other's have success when they avoid grains. To each his own. You have to find what works for you.

Actually "eat more to lose weight" is in fact referring to eating more CALORIES to lose weight. That's where the confusion comes in for me as well.

No, you're confused. It is eating more than 900 or 1000 calories, but it is still the same basic principle--eat less than you burn.

It means you don't have to be on 1200 cals a day. You can eat 1800 or something and still lose. Go seek out the eat more to lose pages on this forum for detailed info on how it all works. Either that, or look up "helloitsdan" and his "in place of a road map".

Sounds like you have had some miserable experiences with your health. Food allergies can take a toll on so many factors of our health, including weight loss or gain.
I am a little confused on your comment, frustrated with your reaction to foods eliminated during holidays- this is a MFP blessing for you!! You can't eat those foods, you can't replace those foods, you have a chance to be unlike many (not on MFP or other forms of committed food diary/fitness diary/personal accountability. This is a good thing!!

Nothing you put in your mouth will ever taste as good as being fit feels!! You won't wake up the next day and say, man I wish I had a piece of that pecan pie I turned away, you will think, I just saved my body 500+ calories and it was worth it.
Each battle you face that you overcome like this will make you feel amazing, and stronger each time.

Also, allrecipes.com has a really cool tool, you can type in ingredients for a recipe, you can also type in ingredients you don't want included. I take those ideas, create a lower calorie version if necessary, and you have a base to start creating what you know you can eat.
Life is too short to spend on what you can't eat- especially if you feed good, no food is worth feeling lousy- keep us posted we are here to help!!!
