i found this app on my phone a few months back and didn't think much of it, but now i started using it and I've lost 14 pounds so far. i started off at 359. i've been big my entire life. not only in weight but in size, i'm 6'8. exercise has always been extremely difficult for me. with bad knees, flat feet, and a fall that i took my freshman year of high school have all contributed to my chronic pain. I've done physical therapy to help with the pain, and i refuse to take pain meds stronger than on the shelf ibuprofen. our family has a history of addiction so i try to avoid stuff like that. So im trying to lose weight through dieting until i get down to a weight where it doesn't hurt me so much. i did try riding a bike recently but i was so heavy that i bent the pole for the seat in half. it's been harder for me mentally.
i did weight watchers a few years back and got all the way down to 315 but there was some technical difficulties with the site and the site wouldn't load. I'm glad to see myfitnesspal is a free service and is just as good as weight watchers.

Have you ever tried something like Atkins? It will help you lose pretty quickly and then once you get where you feel you can exercise then you can try mixing exercise with healthy eating.
Any ways, I am Kristen! Nice to meet you! Feel free to add me! I am always up for new friends and love giving encouragement when needed!0 -
Hey...I'm new here too. I've tried all sorts of diets and also found this app today..I'm hoping that it is going to help massively. I also took the bull by the horns and joined the gym.

Welcome. Keep in mind this isn't a diet. It's a life style change. You are choosing to get healthy. Making better food choices will help you get there. You can always eat under a calorie goal, but try and eat good calories that will make you feel satisfied rather than empty calories.
You will feel better if you can do this and your body will love you.
Good luck! Stay positive and MEASURE.. you may not lose weight all the time, but inches count too!!!0 -
i understand it's a life style thing. i've just been accustomed to using the word diet. the lowest i've ever gotten was 305. my eating style is also dependant on my dad. since he's the bread winner of the house, he generally decides what he wants to eat.every time he goes on a diet i lose like 40 pounds. lol (hes on a diet right now and hes never been more serious about losing the weight).0

Don't depend on your dad so much man. Only you can do it. I know you can't control what kind of food comes in the house, but you can control how much you eat. Just use this app to log EVERYTHING. Also, one thing that has helped me was buying a scale and measuring cup and actually measuring/weighing my food for a while. I was WAY off on my estimates. Hehe.
Then remember, there are going to be ups and downs. One day is not going to kill you either way. If you have problems, shrug it off, get back on the horse and try again.0
