I need runner/half marathon/marathon training friends

I completed a marathon in September of 2011. Since then, let's say I've been on again, off again for MFP, training, and keeping track of my food. I've gained back the 30 lbs. I lost before the marathon (ARGH!), and I know it's totally due to my bad habits. I've recently cut back on my drinking, starting training (weight lifting over noon and some running), but my evening longer runs are curtailed due to the early darkness here. I am looking for friends to help motivate me to get training for a marathon (possibly a 1/2 marathon b/c of the time constraints on the race). The marathon is scheduled for December 2014 in Las Vegas. Please friend me if you are willing to motivate me and in return, I will work to motivate you. Lisa

Hey Lisa, congrats on your marathon last year! I have 2 fulls under my belt and about 6 halfs. Doing Tulsa Route 66 next Sunday.
I found that running worked great for me at first for slimming down, but then there came a point when it seemed like my metablism adjusted and I started gaining, even though I would do 10 mile runs. Of course at the time I was eating terrible...0 -
Hello! I have never run a marathon before but I have always wanted to get in shape for one! I am battling a back injury at the moment so my running has been cut quite a bit for a while but I would love to be encouragement and slowly build my running0

I just did a half on Saturday, and am training for 2 more halfs and a full, plus a half ironman and ironman in the next 6 months. Yes, I run a lot Feel free to add me. I'll certainly try to motivate you to run!0

Hi Lisa! I am new-ish runner and am competing in my first race next week on Thanksgiving, a 10k. After that I am starting training to run a half marathon in February. Would love to have you as a friend, and anyone else too! Would love to have a bunch of running friends!0

Congratulations on running a marathon. I run on a regular basis; completing the Warrior Dash for 2011 (Maryland) and 2012 (North Carolina). I then had some issues.... tendinitis in my knee (the size of a soft ball) and then a fender bender (whiplash); I am now starting to run again...but have had to take it slowly after the whiplash. I am now starting week 3 of Hal Higdon's Half Marathon training (novice1). I have registered for a 5K on Dec. 8th to fit into the training program; there are no 10Ks that fit the training program...so I will maybe just run 10k that weekend; then I'm looking at a half marathon in March. I've never run that far...so this is a big step for me.
Edit - friend request sent0 -
My last half was about a year ago due to some injuries (due to stupidity, not running) but I've been doing alot of weight training and shorter races to try to get back to it next year! Feel free to add me!0

Is that the Rock N Roll race in Vegas? I certainly hope they fix it. The issues from the 2011 race were horrible. They failed in every aspect- allowed too many racers, didn't seed people properly, then dropped the wave start after the first 10 corrals, so I ended up running shoulder to shoulder with 10,000 other people. It was impossible to pass, it was impossible to change speed, you were just stuck at whatever pace the people in front of you were at because there was absolutely no room to move. The finish line was a disaster too. They even ran out of medals!
Their FB wall lit up after that race because it was so poorly managed.0 -
I'll add you - I'm about to do my third 1/2 on Sunday, I'm registered for another 1/2 in April '13 and I'm seriously considering running a full in June '13. I just need the guts to click register.0

Hi - count me in!
I've been running for 3 or 4 years but only consistently trained properly this year I've done 5 half marathons (3 this year) . I'm considering a full marathon this time next year - but also like running shorter races too.
I'm struggling with plantar fasciitis at the moment so I've had to cut back on my mileage. Trying to keep my fitness up with spin classes and strength training, but I could do with more runners to motivate me0 -
feel free to add me! I finished my second marathon in October (Niagara Falls International) and have run 6 half marathons so far. My next one is in January (Hypothermic Half!) . We've got short days here too so I can definitely help with the motivation for the winter training!0

I'm doing my first half in January and hopefully a full this time next year. I'm training my butt off and today I got my first even shin splint! Very painful. I added a bunch of you!0

I've done three 5Ks this year (2 this month) and hope to do at least one more. I'm also focusing on doing a half marathon next year with a possible marathon in 2014 or maybe 2013.
I like training and competing even if I'm not that great.
Feel free to add me.0 -
Oh no. I was planning to run in Vegas. Crud! I may have to reconsider. I'll keep an eye on it for this year and see if it's any better. Thank you for letting me know.:ohwell:0

Hello all
I'm new to fitness pal, but not so new to running. I lost about 50lbs two years ago (mainly by just lifting weights) I quit smoking and starting running a year ago. Unfortunately with the quitting of smoking I have gained about 25-30 lbs back. I trained for my first half marathon which I ran last May. And I ran over 12 races (5K, 10k, 10 mile races in 2012) I am currently training for the San Antonio HeroThon (which is a half marathon on January 27th). I have just started to really try to loose the weight again (I even hung up a picture of me in a swim suit from two years ago on my cupboard for motivation!) My current runs are getting longer (5 and 6 miles during the week and 10-12 miles on the weekends) My real balancing act is to make sure I am eating enough carbs/calories to keep up my training but not to over due it, because after running long runs you feel starved! I would love to add/help motivate other runners out there, I just have no idea how to0 -
Runner here! I usually just run for fun but am trying to train for a 10k and maybe a half soon. Always looking for runner friends!0
