Vegans, where are you??

I've been loosely following a vegan diet for the past year - I like to say I "dabble" in veganism - and have decided that my road to success lies in a plant-based diet. I'm shooting for a 30-lb weight loss and a week and a half in, I'm down 6. I'm feeling great but would love to connect with some other veggie lovers to share tips and tricks, recipes, and plain old fashioned motivation.

Where are my vegans??

Amen to that! Joining a CSA (farm co-op) has been a huge help. It's opened me up to new veggies and forced us to try new recipes. But the damn cheese gets me sometimes...

Can't stand the labels that come with being *vegan* *pescatarian* *vegetarian* etc ... honestly, I prefer to say I am a plant-based eater ... I follow a high raw lifestyle. For some very easy to follow books, invest in the series from the Happy Herbivore by Lindsey Nixon. Website: http://happyherbivore.com/ To dabble into the health benefits of raw ... follow Penni Shelton, the Raw Food Rehab and Drew McCall Burke (the Sexy Raw Vegan) .... or young & raw (they are a couple) ...

You can drive yourself nuts with a zillion webpages ... these ones I listed are from years of filtering through them - hahaha!

Feel free to add me ;) I have been plant based for over 4 years - I would never, ever, ever, go back to a SAD (Standard American Diet) again ;) Take care! Alicia

I try to limit animal products but I do eat fish once or twice a week. I'll also admit to the occasional string cheese as a snack or shredded cheese on pasta. Every once in a great while I have Greek yogurt. Feel free to add me--I have no friends (at least on MyFitnessPal :)) and I'd love to see how others manage to get enough protein while minimizing animal products.
