pain from not sucking in stomach

Hello, I have what might be a weird question. For as long as I can remember I have "sucked in" my stomach to some degree if standing or walking. Not so much if sitting. In middle and high school I was heavily immersed in the world of choir competitions, where we did lots of diaphragm exercises and had to "suck in" a certain way whilst singing to keep our diaphragms engaged properly. I think that's when I started unconsciously doing it most of the time.

I now notice if I am standing and go from sucking in to completely letting it go it sort of hurts, which usually causes me to go right back to sucking in. It's like I need to go back to sucking it in or have something outside my body putting pressure on it to make the pain go away, like push with my hands or sit with my backpack in my lap, etc. Anyone know why this might happen? Just a bad habit?

Any thoughts on an exercise I can do to rectify it?

Part of good posture involves pulling your core in tight. If you let go, you probably aren't standing with good posture, and it would put strain on your body.

Um, I'd go see a doctor about that.

It could be some kind of minor muscle strain, or it could be an intestinal issue or something. I'd see a doctor to be safe.
