Low Carb Lifestyle Anyone ???

I am most successful when doing a low carb lifestyle. I would love to have some friends who are doing the same so that I can see what types of foods your eating. I need to be able to look at others diaries so that I can get suggestions of foods to buy when shopping. I do pretty good with my carbs and usually stay under 30g. daily. If any of you have an open diary and are eating low carbs please request me or I can request you. Thanks for helping !

Carbs shouldnt be bad for you! Embrace the carb, pet the carb.

My carbs are usually low, but thats because i try and stay away from breads.

When people argue that low carb is a lifestyle and not a diet what does that mean? What more is there to a low carb lifestyle than eliminating carbs from one's diet? Do you wear different clothes or do your hair differently?

^ carbs aren't evil, you need to have one high carb day a week if you are trying to put on muscle to restore glycogen stores in your body. If you are just dieting then low carb diets are fine, they keep your insulin levels lower, keep them from spiking, and bread and pasta are SUCH high calorie packed foods, cutting them out for no reason other than that it reduces calories is a good reason. =)

To paraphrase you...."Bread shouldnt be bad for you! Embrace the bread, pet the bread"

I've been a low carber for years however, I've never kept my carbs that low. I've learned the difference in eating Low Glycemic foods such as wheat pasta, sweet potatoes, whole wheat bread and eating simple carbs that spike your blood sugar causing you to crave more sugar.

I don't have my diary open .. but your welcome to add me.

Haha i dont shy away from breads because of the caloric value - i just dont care to eat it all the time.

I do love to rub garlic toast all over my body though - its freaking good lol

Is Low Carb relative to each person? I try to keep my carbs under 100g a day and get most of my calories from protein. That is low compared to my previous lifestyle with 300+g a day. I think under 50g is incredibly low, bordering on no carbs.

I don't have a point. It's a question. I often see people post that they aren't following a low carb diet but that it's a lifestyle. I don't know what besides diet is involved in a low carb lifestyle.

Okay, I see that your serious with your question. For me when I say lifestyle it's because I'm looking for a new way to eat for the rest of my life. When I think diet, I think temporary change. When I say lifestyle, I think long term and forever.
My change in diet has to be permanent as my struggle with my weight will be life long. I hope that answers your question.

Every BODY is differently (literally) but carbs should NOT be viewed as the root of all evil!

A great ratio to aim for is a diet of 40/40/20...meaning 40% from carbohydrates, 40% from proteins, and 20% from fat. This keeps your body in fat-burning mode, keeps you fuller longer, and allows for you to put on more lean muscle while maintaining a high energy level.

White enriched flour and simple carbs are NOT good for you and can really mess with the hormones. I recommend reading Master Your Metabolism by Jillian Michaels to really get an understanding of what foods your body really needs!

Anything with 100% whole wheat flour as the first ingredient is going to provide the nutrition your body needs. I'm a big fan of wraps, especially La Tortilla Factory - Smart & Delicious Soft Wraps Multigrain W/ Extra Virgin Olive Oil. No enriched flours here! Kashi makes a great line of Go Lean cereals and their Honey and Cinnamon oatmeal has a great balance of carbs to protein and a low amount of sugar.

I guess what I'm trying to say is don't be afraid to eat your carbs. The best post-workout nutrition for your body is a ratio of 4:1, meaning four parts carbohydrate to one part protein. The P90X Results and Recovery drink provides just this and I love it! ( :

    Hope this helps!

Not a chance would I be on a low carb diet. Instead, i focus of making sure i get enough protein (atleast 1/2 gram per pound I weigh, but preferable closer to 1 gram). I find if i focus on getting enough proper protein that the other two macronutrients fall in line where they should be. I go by a 50/25/25. Carbs/protein/fat....
Weight loss, btw, is simple mathematics... Calories in have to be less than calories out. You could eat a diet full of twinkies and donuts and still lose weight as long as you burned off more than you ate. Yu may not be healthy, but you'd be thin...
Everyone is different, though. Do what works for you... Just make sure its an eating style you can maintain for a lifetime...

It's more a diet than a lifestyle, IMO.

It's just cutting out a macro, or severely reducing it. It doesn't involve any lifestyle changes (fitness or social or living, or religion), just food. Some lifestyles have a aspects of their diet that may be low carb, but low carb is not a lifestyle. Low carb is a diet.

    /end ramble.

Wow sounds like a lot of negative feedback towards Low carb.. No worries.. I am on your side and would be happy to be your friend.. I do not touch any form of wheat or sugar..and I am losing nicely.. I love that I am never hungry and can keep my calories way low.. I also try to keep my carbs under 45.. but I do Lose best when they are consistently under 20.. I have tried to eat your typical plan but would gain by the day.. so I too have chosen to return to a Low carb lifestyle or WOE.. because Its what works for me!! Unfortunately Nothing else would..

I really didn't need all these responses from those who don't agree with my choice of diet or lifestyle. I thought I was clear on what I wanted... I guess not, WTG !
