Share your favourite running quote!

I've heard several good ones lately but this one tickled me:

"Run like you stole something!"

If I did I'd be running a lot faster and further than I currently do!!

Anyone want to share theirs?

  • I've got a few favourites:

'At first, they'll ask you WHY you're doing it. Later, they'll ask HOW you did it'

'I hated every minute of training, but I said, 'Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.' Muhammad Ali

If you always put limits on what you can do, physical or anything else, it’ll spread over into the rest of your life. It’ll spread into your work, into your mortality, into your entire being. There are no limits. There are plateaus, but you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. If it kills you, it kills you. A man must consistently exceed his level. – Bruce Lee

Burglar being chased by a policeman..... The burglar ran fast, the policeman caught up but just kept pace, burglar started to get tired, the policeman just kept pace, ran across some fields, the policeman just kept pace. The chase went on and on....

    Eventually the policeman says....

"How are you doing? I'm the Police cross-country running champion - how far would you like to run?"

No matter how slow you're going, you're still lapping the person sat on the couch.

"No matter how slow you go, you are still lapping everybody on the couch" - found on the internet, not sure who said it first.

OK, since this one was taken, here is another one:

"If running is difficult, run more" - again, found randomly on the internet.

I don't remember where I heard this but I like this quote:

"I don't run because I love running, I run because I love stopping. Tomorrow I have to run 20km, imagine how good it's going to feel to stop after THAT." (Paraphrasing- but I like the sentiment!)
