Is it Cheating?

I work two jobs. My full time job I sit at a desk and have very little activity. My part time job is on my fee the entire shift and moving around, climbing, what have you. Ordinariily I do not log this as exercise but today I did because A) I didn't go to the gym today and B) the last two shift I worked I literally sweat the majority of my shifts because there was so much I was doing putting stock away and climbing, lifting, carrying...

I don't intend to make a habit of logging this as exercise, but is it "cheating" to log it today? Be honest, but not rude, please ....

I don't think so. If I had a fit bit, i would probably log those calories. additionally, I have a pretty physical job and when I don't get a workout in, i log em. :)

Keep this in perpective. If you eat donuts and cookies all day, but then log it as chicken and broccoli, does it really change anything? You've had a lot of success already so I think you know what is working for you. Just be as honest and accurate as you can be. If you want some extra cals and feel you did extra work to burn them, then log it and eat some extra food. Or just don't worry about it and move on.

If you were honest about how you categorized your lifestyle (sedentary vs. active, etc), then yes, entering something you do as part of your normal lifestyle would be "cheating." The best way to get the results you want is to accurately reflect your lifestyle when setting those goals and then adding exercise in addition to what you already do whilst also watching your caloric intake.

^^This. But really it only matters if you eat back your exercise calories or not. If not, log whatever the heck you want for exercise.

I wouldn't just because I wouldn't want to get comfortable doing that. If I really wanted some extra food cals, I would just eat them and then make up for it later in the week :)

If you've never logged it as exercise before, you are cheating yourself by logging it just for the day in order to get more calories.

It wouldn't be cheating for me because my baseline is sedentary, so anything I do that requires prolonged physical effort I log. For example, I don't log loading the dishwasher and wiping down the countertops because I basically stand in one place. I DO log vacuuming because it requires prolonged physical activity of my whole body.

Depends entirely on how you set up your profile. If it's sedentary the by all means log it. If a major restock only takes place once or twice a month then log it. If it is anyway out of the ordinary then log it.

I set my lifestyle based on solely my full time job as I wasn't working the second one at the time. Normally the second adds some extra activity but because it is our peak season it is crazy activity until after Christmas...

not to get extra calories so much. I could care less if I go over a little on calories because I always have a weekly deficit. More because the activity has increased and because I usually work out every day.

Are you kidding me???? If I pass gas, I log it as 6 calories burned!!

Seriously, if you were honest about your lifestyle when you started - say you chose "sedentary" as I did - then any movement counts as exercise above and beyond your sedentary status. Sounds like your part-time job is quite aerobic in nature. If it weren't a job but something you did around the house, you'd count it, right?

Heck, I think I'll log "typing this post" as 5 calories burned!

Jana you rock my world! LOL. And if passing gas counts, I get more calories tonight then. :explode:
