I am interested in purchasing a treadmill, but thought maybe a treadclimber might be better. I have alot of weigh to loose so working out seems very overwhelming. I already have an elliptical and was looking for something "not as overwhelming". Anyone? Anyone have one and do you like it??

Before investing in a new piece of equipment what is it you find "overwhelming" about the elliptical that would be solved by a different machine?

Perhaps simplicity is the answer (at least for now). A comfortable pair of shoes and the great outdoors and just walk every day. As your fitness improves have another look at your elliptical and see how things go.

That's a good question. I do agree, that I am not sure this would solve my problem. I have tried in the past to carve out time to go for a walk outdoors but it never goes further than a few weeks. We have four children and so they are always with me when I have gone during the day (I homeschool). They ride their bike and I am pushing the stroller and usually yelling ahead to my boy's (6 and 7) to get to the side of the road.

I guess I thought if I had a treadmill, then I would and could escape to our basement and walk for an hour on it without them really noticing that I am "not around". Last winter I joined a gym and would walk for an hour at 3.1 speed and I felt good. But it was so nice to not be at home or disturbed by little ones. But I found it too difficult to get away early in the mornings or to go late in the evenings after kids were in bed.

I appreciate your thoughts, cause it is a good one.. I don't know if this will be different than my elliptical. It is a good one (precor) and I used to love being on it. I should take your advice and just walk outside til I get my endurance back up. Thanks again. You have me re-evaluating....

Join a gym with a children's area. That way they have their own supervised activity to do so you can concentrate on YOU. That also means that you will have strength equipment available to you too...
