Can you imagine to my dismay, ITS EASY TO LOSE WEIGHT! I've tried any and every diet. I've done the adkins, I've done South Beach, I've done them all! I have even gone as far to have the lap-band procedure. I finally read a book on proper nutrition. It was called The Complete Idiots Guide to Weight Loss. You would be surprised what will happen when you eat a proper sound diet. Dont EVER USE THE DIET word. I have just changed my lifestyle. I cant tell you how many people have told me that in the past. I was always looking for a miracle cure. DIETS WORK BUT THEY DONT LAST! For the past 2 weeks I have kept a 1600 calorie diet with proper nutrition of Multigrain, Fruits, Vegetables and Lean Protein. NO EXERCISE and I have still lost 7 lbs not only do I see it on the scale but I feel it in my clothes. I have more energy and I sleep better. TRY THIS!

I totally believe it. I lost 10 lbs right here by following the same methods I learned from mfp folks. Some believe in the basic food groups and portions. I'm with them:) I tried to stick to 1200 cal if I didn't exercise but found I liked to eat a little more then that so did my walking 5 days a week. Put in almost 500 miles in 5 months. I hurt one of my knees because of a cheapo depot pair of tennis shoes:( So, now I am starting again and hope I can burn enough calories to eat more then 1200 a day. For my height and weight, that is the usual amount.

It is amazing how simple this site makes it all make sense. I've been absolutely amazed at what I've learned and how easy it was for me to break certain bad food / drink habits. (Sorry... couldn't give up the smokes :smokin: though... I DID try.:grumble: ) But I went from drinking 8 "pots" of coffee and not eating but 500 to 600 calories a day to 8 to 10 "cups" of coffee with eating 1200 (more if I can get some exercise in my day). And the support here is wonderful!!! Like you I think I tried everything from Scarsdale to Adkins and even thought about Nutrisystem then I happened upon MFP... amazing!!!

I was just telling my husband this last night. I've never been on a diet where I ate 3 good sized meals per day before. It's all about balance and getting those fruits and vegetables and dairy in so you don't feel hungry. I ate some wonderful pasta alfredo with grilled chicken yesterday. It fit right into my meal plan. That's the best part. Nothing is off limits as long as I control the portions and keep everything balanced. I'm losing weight eating nearly 1500 cals a day and I never thought that would happen.

The book sounds interesting and I wish you success but I also feel you NEED exercise! Not only for the health benefits (heart, lungs etc;) but for your muscle tone, skin and even the mental well beeing (endorphin release)! I feel exercise/fitness keeps the body and the mind young and with me turning 52 at the end of the month I strive towards feeling young everyday!
    Best wishes and stay healthy!
  • Man If only I could kick that coffee habit! I'm with you there.
