Breakouts from Protein Supplements

Hi for whatever reason I've broken out badly from the protein supplement I tried. I definitely had a reaction to a Soy Based powder I tried and I think, but am not certain that I had a different breakout from a whey protein supplement I tried. I have acne prone skin so I have to be cautious. Has anyone else had to go thru trial and error to find a protein shake that won't break them out and if so what has worked for you?

A lot of proteins even whey have a content called soy lectithin. if you have an allergy to soy proteins or anything of the sort, that could be it. it could also even be high niacin levels if it's a special type of protein. may I ask what types they were??0

Trader Joes Soy, I already discarded it not sure of the full name but it had no sugar or chemicals, very plain but was good enough for me...and Muscle Techs Whey...which i may try again..alot of those things can effect hormone levels which if out of whack can definitely cause a break out for me...ugh...0

How exactly does protein effect your hormone levels please?0

How exactly does protein effect your hormone levels please?
HGH produced by the pituitary gland or insulin produced by the pancreas, are made using amino acids classifying them as protein hormones - right?0 -
Egg whites won't break u out......0

Nope - I actually have never heard of protein effecting hormones in the way suggested. It will release insulin, which is a hormone but in terms of any other hormones? No, not really. If anything it is suggested that testosterone adjustment by the consumption of protein is a homeostatic response and its meaning may be close to zero in terms of doing anything - if anything it has been suggested it would LOWER hormone levels. But the response is so close to zero, its not worth quantifying or suggesting as a reason for anything related to it.0

Hi do checkout, SUNWARRIOR plant protein blend.
It doesn't have soy in its in products or any presertavtives or artificial colours.
I want to buy it later on when I progress on strenght and endurance training as I get much fitter.

Soy mimics estrogen:

But that may not be such a big problem:

You may be allergic to soy, or the soy may have given your hormonal balance a little jolt, but no matter why you break out, the fact that you do is a hint to swap to some other protein mix. Good luck!0 -
Thanks everyone for the input and suggestions! I'll eventually try some other supplement, maybe even the one suggested, its trial and error at this point....for now I eat egg whites, and will try to increase my consumption of chicken and fish...0

I'm thinking that it's the soy lectithin. It's in both supplements you said you tried. just make sure it's not in whatever you take and you should be safe. soy allergies are common.0

soy is garbage.0

soy is garbage.
I think this is the culprit as well0 -
It sounds like a reaction to the soy. Try some better quality whey powders, that don't have as much junk in them. Also, look into casein powders.0

Will definitely do...Thanks all0
