What does HRM stand for? Heart rate monitor?0

Yes, HRM is heart rate monitor.
I would only recommend Polar. I have an FT7, FT4 is also a good and cheaper one.0 -
I personally love my Garmin FR70. The ability to upload data to your computer is great, and the user-programmable workouts are surprisingly deep. It's also ANT+, which means it doesn't work with most gym equipment but does work with most cycling electronics.
The Polar models are solid and ubiquitous, but you'll have to shell out another ~$50 if you want to upload data to your computer. The FT7 doesn't work with a footpod for running, which is a let-down.
It really depends on what your goals are and what activities you enjoy. If you want to get a calorie # to log to MFP from your average gym class or workout DVD and nothing more, most basic models will work fine, regardless of brand. If you have more advanced goals, like running or cycling analysis, then a more expensive model with footpod/GPS/cyling cadence/speed is money well spent.0 -
I have the Epulse2 HRM & love it's strapless & so easy to use .. . Check it out!0

Thanks everyone! I'll have to get started on some research.0

I bought the POLAR HT40, was planning to buy FT7 but they were sold out. Luckily sears gave me the better one for the lower price Love it so far! Just dont be shocked when your actual burns are lower than what you thought before.0

Which polar does not have to have it sent in to change the battery. I read that was an issue with some of them. I want one that I can change my own battery.0

I have an FT4 and I changed the battery on it myself.0 -
