Not thread stealing but, read through a lot of posts on "Mrs. Robinsons syndrome". I feel it's just immaturity admiring maturity in my own opinion. However, I'm not going to say I'm a hot dad or I look like Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise and I consider myself to be pretty average for 43. Although in the past year I could give at least a dozen real life examples of being definitely hit on by women half my age....and I don't just mean "they were being nice". I know the difference! lol Of course being married, I am just flattered and move along. but, is it just the maturity aspect?

I didn't see the original thread but I know what you mean. Happened to me at the gym just the other day, and it's happened several other times recently. I was wondering if it's a new cultural thing that didn't exist when we were younger. Maybe shows like Cougartown make it seem more acceptable? IDK. I'm just an old lady LOL.

    No bother, OP.
Here's the original, for reference purposes only.

I would say it is the maturity thing and without being judgmental and as a young woman (20) who dated an older guy (36) it was, and I feel so shallow saying this, that he could bring me places. Out to dinner, to the theatre, to hotels, etc... and it wasn't halvsies.

For me, I was always attracted to confident powerful men and have dated a good few in my life... some have had money, some have not.

I'm pretty sure it's just the times! I get hit on all the time by younger men...
Honestly it's really kind of ridiculous! I'm not even really sure what I would have in common with a 21 yr old...or even a 19 yr for that matter... I have 3 kids; but it happens all the time. And I swear I hear "age is just a number more than a half a dozen times a week"... it's getting a little old ...

I've been single for almost 5 yrs now...and I can tell you that it's really gotten worse in the last couple of years. I think people are just getting desperate!
I try to stay within a 10 yr age bracket (30-40) ... although I did end up on a date with a man that was old enough to be my dad one time...lol! Had I known that he was 53...I wouldn't have accepted the date; but dang he looked good for 53...I hope I look that good at 53...lol!

But honestly I think it's just the times; nowadays more people are concerned about that instant gratification and could careless about having an actual relationship...so age to them doesn't really matter.

Thanks for the replies....whether it be just the times or immaturity seeking maturity. I guess it happens a lot these days.

One example happened this week at one of my regular morning stops coming into work. A young and yes, pretty girl 20-22 asked me for my business card. No....not unusual for someone to ask for a Pawn Shop business card. But, I then asked "are you looking for something in particular at the store?" Her reply was "no, I just wanted your card" (with a smile) It's just weird....maybe I'm being tested! lol

Maybe some of these young girls going for older men have daddy issues......meaning that they grew up not really having a father figure in their lives, and are looking to fill that void. Women 20 years younger than me grew up in a very different lifestyle. Many of my daughters friends (18-22 yr old) come from divorced households, young single moms, or dad's who worked all the time to provide for their families. A lot of them don't want to date guys/men in their age bracket due to the maturity (or immaturity) of some of them. One girl even admitted that she is on the hunt for a 'sugar-daddy' (I didn't think that term was still prevalent) as she wanted to be a 'kept' woman......
    Ya, good luck with that.....
