Bingeing and then fasting - is it okay once in a while?

I blew it last night. Went to Taco Bell and then to Timmy's. Oh well. I did account for everything I ate and am paying for it now. Is it just me, but when I overeat one day, I don't feel like eating the next day because I'm still full. This is happening today and I got the warning that I was eating too few calories. Is that okay to do once and a while?

That happens to me sometimes, too. After eating a LOT, the fullness can persist the next day. I say don't fast to punish yourself, but do fast if that's what your body is telling you.
I would think, though, that fasting the whole day would not be a good idea. I'd just skip the breakfast (or just eat very little for breakfast) and reassess at lunch.0 -
Okay that makes sense. Thank you.:flowerforyou:0

As long as your weekly calories are spot-on, I wouldn't worry about it. I never have much of an appetite if I eat a lot the day before, so I just try to eat as much as I can and choose calorie-dense foods. But if I don't make 1200, it's no big deal because I'll probably eat 1600 or 1800 the next day. See what I mean?0

Physiologically, fasting for a day from time to time probably won't do you any harm, as long as you're getting enough calories in general (eg. over the week). Of course, it can be tricky trying to make up a whole day's worth over the rest of the week. If eating more one day and less the next suits your lifestyle, and you don't have any emotional issues with food, then calorie cycling, or intermittent fasting could both be realistic options for you.
Psychologically, if you're talking about actual binges, and not just over-eating a little, then fasting in response to a binge is probably not a very good idea. If it feels like you're fasting as punishment, or to atone for eating too much, or because you feel guilty... then I wouldn't really recommend fasting.0 -
I have to say, when I have a binge of an evening it makes me feel more hungry the next day! I wish it had the same effect as it does on you!0
