I'm new here and looking for support.

I'm trying to get healthy. I stopped smoking a little over a month ago and now it's time for the rest of my body.

    Congrats to your new life!
I stopped smoking 2,5 years ago and I have completely changed my life!
First I gained 5 KG. I mean hey! If I stop smoking I need to change it with something! I tried to be smart and ate a lot of nuts and other "natural candies" but it was as bad as everything else.
Started walking alot but kept gaining weight
After 5 kg (10 lbs I think) things got stabilised, tarted eating healthy food and then slowly I started reliazing that I got better condition: I learned to run!
started running between 3 and 5 km 2-3 times a week - but still didn't loose any weight (although I felt great! just the trill of discovering that I actually could run was amazing!)
1 year ago my wife joined a diet program that basically had 3 rules:
1- eat 5 times a day (or just eat before u get hungry)
2- stay away form carbs! (pasta, rice, potato etc) and ofc everything fried and all kind of sugar
3- eat the size of your hand protein, and 3 size of your fist greens

This completey changed our lives. I lost 40 lbs and my wife lost about 30.
1 year after I have gained 10 lbs that I am now trying to get rid off

By this I want to tell you: the road might get bumpy, but you have already made a great achievement and that's the fact that you quit smoking! now take care of yourself and try to find your way!
  • wow congrats on cutting smoking! :)
