Holidays

So I just started back up with this, this week. I am so excited and doing much better than I thought I would. I have a lot of positive energy and support in my life this time around and I am trying to get involved in the message boards, too.
So here is my dilemma. I know that the time to start is now. No doubt about it. But, why then must I dread food with the holidays. I know you do not get fat from just the holidays. It is just going to require so much more work to keep in my limits (working out extra to burn the extra calories). I just feel like maybe I should have waited until after the new year.
I guess, too, I have been really down on myself after my first-ever Spinning class. I barely survived half the class. I felt ashamed to be sitting on the floor and stretching for the entire second half of the class while my boyfriend continued, but I had to. I was so dizzy. I guess it is not too bad since it was first workout since surgery. But, I guess I am just feeling overwhelmed altogether.
What atrategies are you using to get through the holidays without over-eating and under- working out?

There are healthy choices for the holidays and a day off doesn't hurt anyone you'll be ok don't worry0

If you are here and feeling it is time, than go with that! Don't worry about the days ahead...one day at a time.
I have been at this for over 300 days...everyday is different; some stronger than others. It is normal to go up and down mentally. Be realistic through the holidays and try to move physically everyday.
Good luck and I wish you success as your journey continues!0 -
Look at it this way - it's not about guilt, but about health. Starting now gives you a head start on weight loss! Even if you have "bad days" for the holidays, all those good days in between WILL add up!
You won't regret standing there on January 1st, a little bit thinner than you are now, making your resolutions... you won't be thinking "I really should have just waited until now to start this whole eating better and exercise thing."
I say this as someone who a) is also concerned about the holidays; b) has just started on myfitnesspal; and c) has also recently felt humiliated in fitness classes (my nemesis is a perky little fitness instructor named Jenny that leads Step N' Pump!) and even cried on the way home!
It can be done, and even if you factor in a few setbacks, you'll be further ahead if you start now . Plus, maybe by Christmas, you'll at least have your portion sizes down, if not your food choices.0 -
thank you for your post!0

Starting now or after new years won't matter. Obviously you are motivated now and if you want, you might lose that. Do it now!! You can either make healthy choices or allow yourself a predetermined amount of cheats. Stay focused and you will have a headstart on all your friends who will wake up January 1 and half heartedly decide it is time to do something!!!0
