Definitely go in for a bra fitting! I'm noticing that the final clasp doesn't give me a snug fit, and (unfortunately) the cups aren't completely full anymore.
  • thanks ladies for the suggestions....I work at Lane Bryant and do my own bra fitting...I am just in awe that i'm going to need a new size soon...I just bought a new size less than a year ago...and need to buy my next size down....I love this feeling...

4 years ago, I was a 46DD, and I'm recently wearing a 42D....I'm going in today and update you guys later...I'm just happy.

I know I need a new bra when the girls try to escape out the bottom...when the band is obviously too big...when the cups are so big that I keep dropping my phone ( I keep it in my left cup so I can hear it).

In the last 10 months I have gone from a 42DD down to a 38C... hopefully it stops here!

good for you...I know what you mean... I need my D's to stop here too... I wouldn't mind the band going smaller though.

I'd LOVE to be a D or even DD again. I believe I'm a 38H right now. Impossible to find that size lol

Yes...that would be a good indicator.
Get measured - I did and found out I'd been wearing the wrong size for quite some time.

Oh my.... this made me laugh!
First I was like "what.... you can't hear it if it's in your RIGHT cup?" then I was like "Oh my....I've been using my phone ALL wrong!"
Thanks for the giggle   (it's been a LONG day... I needed it!)

ETA: I hope this doesn't sound insulting! It sure wasn't meant to be!!!!!

You should be measured every ten pounds lost or gained.

LOL!! I *could* put it in the right cup, but it would be awkward to get out since I am right handed....

I have been wearing Ahh Bras. BUT I know I need to downsize. It goes according to your shirt size. I have been wearing 3X and am now down to a 1X shirt size.

Hi ladies- its my first time ever reading the boards and I found this particular one. I just got a fitting at victoria secrets and am down a cup size but only in certain fits. Lacy vs. Demi vs. Full cup (well I can't pull off demi cut-I get bra muffin top)
But what made me laugh out loud was keeping the phone in the left side of your bra. That's where I keep mine too! Love it!

Wow, if you need to ask PLEASE go for a proper fitting! Once you have something that truly fits, you won't be able to stand something that doesn't ever again. Sounds like you need a WAY smaller band to start with.

Actually OP looks rather voluptuous and in my opinion VS is not the best if she is. I would go somewhere like Nordstroms that sells better bras (Wacoal, etc).

I agree. VS tried to fit me into what they called a comparable size... Ugh. No! Not even close!!

Go online and try googling your bra "problem". For example: http://www.divinecaroline.com/37/103936-don-t-boob-six-indicators-an Measure yourself, find out your true size and then go to a site like BiggerBras.com. I've found some really well fitting bras there, eg, Le Mystere. Champion is my sports bra of choice (found at Target) but then again, I double up my bras when I run, workout or practice martial arts.
  • Yes. Do a measure and keep track of your bust and rib measurements as you lose weight, and check a bra size chart. Once you think you've gone down a size, get professionally fitted.
  • I'd say you should just get measured, or measure yourself.

    When I started I was a C, now I'm a B, and they're still getting smaller.

Victoria Secret only has the Larger cup sizes when you order them in- they don't have them in stock, same with the larger band sizes. FYI. Anyone that's more than a D, is usually out of luck. Seems a bit odd if you ask me (since it IS a bra store- you'd think they'd have stuff for women with *ahem* "stuff" to FILL the bras...lol)

Sounds as if the band size is too lose. It should just come up with you, it should be snug against your rib cage. Does the front of the bra in between your knockers lay flat against your chest? If not, you are in the wrong size.
Even better that Victoria's secret is Nordstroms. I feel like they do a better job of fitting you in the right bra.

I can't find a good bra anymore. I used to rely on Lane Bryant's T-shirt bra but now that my band size has shrunk, they don't make it in a big enough cup size. In February, I was a 40DD. I'm making due with a 38DDD now, but the band is really too big. Where can I find a good 36F?? I tried Nordstroms but nothing there fit well or gave me and awkward shape. What kind of sports bras do you ladies with the bigger 'ladies' buy that actually support?

No no no no no.... Victoria's Secret is horrible at sizing! They use a really weird way of measuring!

Here's a good guide on measuring yourself. If you have a friend to help, it's way more accurate!

    http://www.reddit.com/r/ABraThatFits/comments/rh26h/is_getting_fitted_for_a_bra_as_humiliating_as_it/c469bi0

There is NOTHING that makes your body look better than a well fitting bra. It's worth the investment! Don't freak out over band or cup size. Like a good pair of jeans, size doesn't matter if it makes you look great!

If it moves at all it doesnt fit. If there is anything escaping anywhere it doesnt fit. If it rides up your back it doesnt fit. If you have 4 boobs instead of 2 it doesnt fit lol!!

Do a quick measurement for approx size then just go try them on. Getting measured in a shop is not always accurate as different makes are different sizes.

I was an expert fitter at Nordstroms. Bras usually last about 6 mos, 3 if you have two and wear it all the time, 9 if you have lots and rotate them. Most suggest you have a minimum of three for this reason. The reason for 6 mos is that elastic in you bra stretches and wears out over time. the bra may still feel good or "fit" you but it is not longer working for you. For that reason your bra will get looser. Your band is the inches around plus 2, so if you measure 34 inches try a 36. After 38 inches you become closer to your true size. If you measure 40 inches than usually 40 is you band size. Your straps are to lift the front. But if the back is too loose, you end up lifting the back strap and your bra curves up in the back. The number one problem is that us women hate are figures and we will not go up the necessary cup size so we and some store will sell you a larger band with a smaller cup. Most women are smaller in the band than they think and much larger in the cup. An average skinny women is usually a D or DD. Many of us are actually F's (DDD) G's (DDDD), H's (DDDDD). I promise if you go down in the band and get in the right cup you will show off the thinest part of you which for most women is the area under their chest. You should have no spillage and don't loosen the band to make your cup turn into a sling! :) Good luck :)

Sorry ladies but Victoria's Secret is the worst. They are just trying to make money so they will tell you the wrong size and sell you a bra size that they stock rather than the size you actually are.

A good department store like Nordstrom's is the way to go. To the poster who couldn't find anything at Nordstrom's - that's strange, you should try again or try a specialty bra shop for large sizes. If Nordstrom doesn't have it in the store, they can order it for you.

In sports bras, I wear the brand Anita Active, and I cannot recommend it to you enough. It is like my favorite thing in my life. I am size 32H. I think VS tried to sell me like a 42D - what a scam.

To the lady who asked why VS doesn't sell more sizes - because the profit margin isn't worth it to their corporate money crunchers ( probably men lol!). They figure that most women are size A through C.

Type 1 latex allergy. Cottonique. Rather expensive mail order bras. I shall wait till I get where I am going. Thank God for Cottonique.
