Lost 12 lbs in a month...is this too fast?

Hi everyone! I'm a 32 year old 5'6" female living in England but originally from Philly. I've been on MFP for 1 month now and I must say I'm absolutely addicted. One of my friends told me about this site and I love it. Like most of you I've gone up and down with my weight most of my life. I was my most fit in my teenage years until about 24 (2004) as I took dance classes almost everyday. After I stopped dancing I started to eat whatever I wanted and didn't really get that much exercise. So I started to put on weight quick and it has slowly crept up every year for the past 8 years. Some years I'll lose 20 lbs but then 6 months later when I feel good about myself I start to slack off and the cycle starts again.
Well I got engaged over the summer and our wedding is in October next year so I told myself that I will get healthy and lose weight with a goal to get to my ideal weight by August - 135 lbs (just so I'll be the same size for my dress fitting). So my starting weight on Oct 19 was 198 lbs and today I am 186 lbs. I have been eating between 1200-1500 calories a day and working out between 30-90 minutes a day. I told myself that there is no reason I can't be active for 30 minutes a day. I have been tracking my food and have been weighing everything I eat. It has helped tremendously. I am so proud of myself for losing 12 lbs in a month but I'm also concerned that this is too much too fast. I'm sure it will all settle down soon but just wanted to reach out to those that may have gone through a big weight loss when they first started. Cheers!

If you have a deficit every day, are eating very healthy foods, and more than 30 lbs overweight youre gonna lose the initial weight fast. It will slow down the closer you get to where your body really wants to be. I wouldn't worry about it.0

Hi!
It's quite normal to lose a lot of weight quickly when you first start. I lost 11lbs in my first month.....but this month it has really slowed. Enjoy the first flush of weighloss, just don't be disheartened when it levels out to a more steady lb or two a week.
Congratulations on your engagement!!!0 -
Congrats on the engagement, really just what the others have said. I lost 5lbs my first week, starting at almost 210. The more you have to loose typically have larger numbers right away.0
